For the imac, you might want to consider an Apogee Duet. It has both a DAC and an amp. For the ipod, I don't bother using one.

You could also consider getting an Apogee One. It is the cheaper version of the Apogee Duet. Not too sure how powerful the amp in it is but it should be sufficient.

originally i intended just for a portable amp
one i could take out buy also good enough to use at home

hadnt intended to to get a dac,
kinda new to all this
so dont want to spend a huge amount

possibly £100 or so, though if i can get a decent one a little cheaper il be very happy

it would mainly be for home use, so if theres a full sized amp better for this price id consider that

If you're not worried about portability at all, why not just go desktop?  It's a bit of a generalization, but you will probably get better bang for your buck if you go that route.  It will probably also scale better if you want to upgrade to more demanding headphones down the line.

Look into the  Headstage Arrow HE. I use it for both portable and home use (with different headphones) with exceptional results. It's dimensions are almost identical to the iPod (a bit smaller and less than 1/2" thick). It's more than you mentioned but far less than anything as good @ 200 Euros (incl. shipping)

Hi, I'm attempting to decide between a PA2V2 OR A Neco V.2 portable with the MOSFET. I have Senn HD25-1 ii on order and would like your feedback regarding these amps. before I make a decision.
