Might be getting my AK 100 II soon, or if I'm feeling cheap I'll get the Fiio X5.

Does anyone know without looking at the specs of the AK240 and AK100 II, is the sound difference really that major?

If I remember correctly someone brought there AK240 hooked up w/ a DAC and beefy power cable, but I never heard it straight out of the player

I'm just curious because I found a couple legit looking listings on eBay, for $1500. I also read Audio360s review and I'm curious why people praise it so much.
Why not focus on the AK100 II, its extremely affordable, (sort of), and it has the most friendly UI right next to Apples old iPod.

If anyone can answer these questions it would be much appreciated :) because before I get into purchasing high end home equipment I've gotta have a portable rig for on-the-go listening

Coming from a 10 minute track listen at the Capital Audio Festival, I didn't notice much difference.

Thanks for the comment.

But does it at least sound decent without external amps and dacs
(Mine will be hooked up to Sennheiser IE800s)

It sounds good I thought and you can usually get it for much cheaper than retail on Amazon (I've been tracking it from my Wishlist).  You might want to also take a look at the new Sony player that comes out this Spring.  I've heard it sounds better than the AK120 II.

What the 128 GB Walkman Hi-Res Digital Music Player?

That things got a pretty beefy price tag, I don't know if I'll be able to cut it

For the AK100 II, I've searched everywhere but I cant find it for anything cheaper than $899.
Amazon fulfilment return policy is great, but still 900 BUCKS!!!

Do you know a verified seller, who would also allow me to return it within 30days- (please provide a link)

If I make it I will be bringing my Ak120II, which I've had for 2 weeks now.  I bought mine as the package deal through emusic enterprise on Amazon.  They are an authorized dealer (I checked by calling iriver) and despite some shipping issues (Amazon policy, not an emusic enterprise issue) I ended up being really happy.  The deal was $1500 for the player, Sennheiser momentum headphones, a 64GB micro SD card and an optical cable.  I'm selling the headphones, so I'm hoping to net about $1350 for the player.  Not to mention not having to buy an SD card anytime soon.

I haven't seen the AK100II as a package deal from them, so this may have been useless info.  But the AK120II has sounded great with my 1964ears V6 Ciem's and my Crack/T1 combo.

yea the ZX2. My bad. I figured it was in your price range given it's MSRP is lower than the AK120II.

You do not have a speaker system back at home? I see you have an impressive headphone collection but would think you would have a high end speaker system as well. I am a speaker guy trying to get into headphones.
