You live in chengdu?

To me the RCA 6as7 and any Sylvania 6sn7 is a awesome combo on the cheap. Both for about 20 bucks.

I'm still suffering from random rustling noises in 1 channel of my DV332, its been quiet for ages but now seems to be noiser than ever and pretty constant - before I'd turn the amp on/off and it would shut up.
Its kind of anoying - its not loud but its distracting.
So my mind is wondering if I should go for the 3322 or 337?
I can't make sense of the boyier.com/en website.. maybe just me, but I can buy the DV337 in the UK... what should I do?
I have a bunch of tubes for the 332, but I could sell them all with the amp I guess.

With high-impedance headphones like Senns or Beyers, my DV337 is completely and totally quiet.

I guess I should stump up and get the DV337, are the NOS tubes expensive? I had alot of fun with tube rolling on the 332, but it was always sensible money.

Nah, tubes for the 337 are cheap. That's one nice thing about it. You can get nice JAN Phillips 6SJ7WGT's for $12 each, and RCA 6AS7G's for $10 each or less. Sure, there are more expensive variants - I'm using almost the most expensive tubes you can get for the 337 - GEC (British) 6AS7G's which were $50 each, and Tung-Sol mesh-plate 6SJ7GT's which I got for $20 each although they can be very hard to find. So even if you go crazy, it's $150 worth of tubes, but you can get very nice ones for less than $50 total.

You might want to consider the 337SE. The tubes are cheap, and the amp is quite a step up from the 337 for the money. The internals were upgraded quite a bit. The only niggle might be that you have more tube rolling opportunities for the input tubes on the 337 vs the 337SE if that's a big thing for you.

Good point - and in fact, the "regular" 337 may be hard to get - Head-direct actually only sells the 337SE.

And actually there are a pretty healthy number of options for the 6BX6/EF80 - Amperex, Telefunken, Valvo, Sylvania, Raytheon...and both Antique Electronic Supply and Vacuum Tubes Radio Tubes - 5,000 different tubes in stock - Over 10 million tubes! sell NOS 6BX6's for $2 each!!!!

How much difference do you think there is between a Siemans, Amperex, and Telefunkin if they are all grid plates, just curious.

I have no clue - never heard them. I have EF80 adapters for my DV337, but only tried the mesh-plate Amperex tubes. The US-made tubes aren't mesh-plate, so they almost surely will sound different. And heck, I have a bunch of different brand 12AX7's with very similar plates that sound different - so it's possible there are some differences.

It's also possible though that all of the mesh-plate EF80/6BX6 were made by one company and re-branded by the others - haven't really looked into it.

They look so similar I just assumed Tube Rolling the Grid tubes would be an exercise in Fiscal Irresponsibility.

I have the original Plate EF80 Chinese tubes that I haven't really listened to, and a box of Bugle Boy and Red Label Ampirex's.

Yeah when I was going down the EF80/6BX6 route briefly I came to the same basic conclusion, which was that the Amperex Bugle Boy mesh plates were the only ones I needed to bother with. But I found I preferred the Tung-Sol 6SJ7GT mesh plates, and so I abandoned the whole 6BX6 thing and have stayed with the TS 6SJ7GT's (which I think sound terrific).

The DV337 is in the UK - hence saving me £100p&p plus taxes . .. or should i get the 3322..
One lastt thought - does the 337 use 2 power cords?

Between the two, the 337 is in another league. Much better dynamics and the channel separation is wider making volume adjustment easier. The extra power on tap makes the bass incredibly fast.

And thats with the 337 using just stock tubes.

The circuit design of the later 337s is now very similar to the 337se.

If you would like to compare a 3322 with nos tubes to a 337, let me know.
