I don't have my individual CDs anymore since I sold them as soon as double CDs arrived, but check your copy of:
MERCYFUL FATE - Mellissa
and see who has the remaster credits for 1997, the new double CDs are:
Chris Gehringer at Hits Factory NYC (but no date listed)

When I did a quick check before selling I thought old CD had different person listed for remaster, but could be mistaken since it was just a quick look.

Same Guy, Same place, Same Bonus Tracks.
I beleive they're just reissues then, how's the new liner notes though?

I can't even begin to describe how great this album is, best Dimmu work musically, best vocals on any Dimmu album by Shagrath, in my top 3 all time dark metal list......in a word "godlike"

OK, old list is in closed "darkest desire II" thread so I had better update the master list, made 3-4 new entries and changed order a bit to reflect new thinking since 4/2003.

You guys may like Dimmu Borgir's EDT best and it may be great, but I have been listening to DCA all day today. I gotta say this is my favorite Dimmu Borgir album.
Yes, the extra bucks for the digipak were worth it. This is the best packaging of a CD I have ever seen. I love all the twisted ways they use car parts for art here. I even bought the Tshirt to go along with the album.

I also listened to Mercyful Fate Melissa. Sounds like Iron Maiden to me.

I am not impressed. I will give the other CD a listen when my mood better suits this kind of music.

Okay, what video are you reffering to scottder? Did I miss a video version of EDT? Mine does not have a video.

I think they are very different albums at heart, both are great, in different ways

Yes the Dimmu DCA digipak + bonus track are worth couple extra bucks, very nice package.

Dimmu EDT vs DCA is very much like COF Dusk vs Damnation, EDT is the golden age with slower tempos and only keyboard used to develop atmosphere, Shagrath vocals are more evil etc. DCA has faster tempos and many new sound elements other vocalists, more complex mixture of elements.(like COF Damnation)

Quality wise I will take EDT any day over DCA, but that doesn't mean DCA is bad.........just that EDT is godlike.

Yes Mercyful Fate "melissa" is similar to Iron Maiden from same time period musically (KD vocals are unique) but is that really a bad thing?

Damn you DarkAngel!
Why did you have to compare DCA to Damnation? Now all I'm hearing is overproduced messes.

Actually, I do understand where you are coming from here. I may even have to agree with you, somewhat. I gotta tell you that listening to this through the phones is leaving a very different impression than what I got yesterday with speakers in the garage. See, we listened to EDT in the car on Sunday, then Monday DCA arrives and I was busy in the garage so I played it out there. When comparing these with sub-par music systems, the nod goes to DCA. In the car (SUV) we could hardly hear the vocals on EDT, the music is vastly different sounding. So, with that being my freshest memory of EDT my comparison may have been skewered.
But,........... I do like the faster tempo, and more elements here. I just listened to the first 3 tracks of EDT and the first 3 tracks of DCA. (headphones+good source) and I am still liking DCA better. It's hard to call one technically better, I just prefer DCA. They are different, and I like them both, very well. I wish I had a "deluxe" copy of EDT.

I wish I could say I like both albums of COF that we just mentioned. I still have not been able to accept Damnation.

IMHO, EDT has more edge to it, it's more intense, while DCA has the orchestral bits. They both have a place in my listening, depends on my mood

PS - As DarkAngel said, yes Melissa sounds very similar, but are from around the same time. Speaking of which, anyone heard the latest King Diamond Puppet Master

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but according to AMG, new albums from Khanate (Things Viral) and Crown (Possessed 13 w/bonus DVD) come out today.

Seems like "Bonus DVDs" are the new marekting gimmick for albums, but hey the more material the better
