Also what are we all using for sources

Yes, they are that bad.

Sources: MSB Link DAC III, Sony SCD-CE775, and Rega Planet when I get it fixed.

did you guys catch this :

DRACONIAN - Where Lovers Mourn

Fans of beauty and the beast genre this is for you! Draconian debut release on Napalm records delivering 8 tracks (the first one clocking over 12 minutes) of epic, melodic progressive doom with lots of Angelic female vocals blends with growly – evil black-ish patterns
This album reminds us a Therion inspired version of Tristiania Era “Widow’s Weed” GREAT!!!

Heh I think I've tapped my CD budget for a while, but I will put that on my list next. The place is really cool, they'll speical order stuf no problem, but their "imports" section has some neat stuff, even if it all isn't really an "import".

I was also tempted by the reisuused Mercyful fate, two CDs for the price of one, can't go wrong there!

Okay, whileat first listen I wasn't grabbed by "Death Cult Armegeddon", I now can't keep my self away from it. Are the other Dimmu Borgir albums like this as well?

Most similar in sound/style is previous album PEM (puritanical euphoric misanthropia)...........but the best Dimmu
remains EDT (enthrone darkness triumphant) which has a more classic melodic sound, more atmospheric keyboard treatments etc.

If you like DCA I would also try some ARCTURUS and early BORKNAGAR albums...........they are heavy influences for DCA.

BTW..........did you get limited ed. digipak DCA?

I'll have to check those out, thanks.

Yes, it was only $12.99, so I grabbed it.....just HAD to get that extra track

.
and the packaging is quite neat. Question is, are you getting the vinyl version

Scott

PS - Define "early" on the BORKNAGAR albums? Is the later stuff bad?

Some Mini Reviews :

Red Wine - Suenos y Locura

This band from Spain can be best described as a cross between Helloween and Children of Bodom. Musically they remind me a lot of COB, and the vocals sound more like Helloween, thus making it sound much heavier than most Power Metal that you would be used to hearing. All the songs are in Spanish. The digipack version that I have has two extra tracks which are both sung in English. 8/10

Sonata Nocturna - The Darkest Winter

Great Doom Metal band, also from Spain, however all the songs here are in English. Great female vocals on this one. My only problem with it is that it's just a MCD not a full album. This is way too short, lasting less than 20 mins. All the tracks are awesome, it's pretty cheap at $9 w/ shipping so if you are into doom metal and female vocals, get it!

7/10 (only because it's just a MCD)

Gologotha - Melancholy/Elemental Changes/The Way of Confusion

This is a special 2 CD set that includes two full albums and a MCD, the 1st Cd is over 70 mins!!! The second is a hour long! That's over 2 hours of music. I haven't listen to the whole thing yet, but once I given it a few spins I will update this review.
