I know these are not "troo" dark metal..........but they are kinda fun (even if dangerously similar to ABBA at times

Heh, close to ABBA? Hmmm now that my wife might actually like.

Hey.........those NIGHTWISH box sets are cool!
Actually get two full sized jewel cases in cardboard outer sleeve, also each box has different set of band member post cards inside.
So two remastered CDs with bonus tracks for $15 is good deal.

Of course some of the artwork for CD covers is lame and had to be redesigned with my handy Paint Shop Pro & scanner. This is lightweight but fun stuff, glad I added these to collection.

Also see The End has listed new albums arriving soon from:
-AFTER FOREVER
-SIRENIA

Speaking of somewhat lighter stuff, I picked up the latest Cruxshadows. Ethernaut, haven't listened yet, but it's gotten some good reviews.

I have these CRUXSHADOW albums now:

I'll let you know what I think of their new release (I'll break out the older CDs as well, compare em and let you know if it's worth picking up. The artwork really pulled me in on that one, simply wonderful.

I agree, hidden tracks were cute in the early days of CD, but now they're just lame. Most intersting use I have seen for it though is on an Overkill CD (forget which one), you had to go to a certain track number then manually "rewind" to get to the start of the song. But in all, I agree....just list the damn songs and be done with it.

Ok, I've been listening back and forth between "Wishfire" and "Ethernaut", and I'd say Ethernaut is an improvement on there sound, still very recognizable as Cruxshadows, but more refined. If I had to pick between the two right now, I'd say Ethernaut. But it is an incremental change that may not be worth it.

Hey I got some new CDs from The End the other day!!

Therion - Deggial
Death - Sounds of Perseverance
Ancient - The Halls of Eternity

They were out of Old Mans Child - Revelation 666 which is the one I really wanted.

I got a few minutes in with Ancient and Therion.
Ancient seemed pretty lame what little I got to listen to.
Therion sounded very promising.
I am listening to Death right now. If I can adjust to the lead vocals this will be pretty good.

Those are three good CDs in my book. Don't give up on ANCIENT yet.....they really are similar to middle period COF in many ways and I know you like COF.

Death's SOP........one of the greatest death metal albums ever made, whats not to like.

NP: ANCIENT - Svartalvheim

Have any of you listened to Kataklysm?
I tried the search function and got nothing.
I was at Nuclear Blast USA and listened to the song Beyond Salvation from their newest album. It was good.

Later on, EDIT
I am now listening to Agathodaimon. This is great! Especially considering they are a German band. I have heard Helloween (okay),
Dew-Scented (good)
Destruction (not for me)
Mnemic (not for me)
These are all here

Kataklysm rocks. Very underrated Canadian band. I saw them live a couple months ago and they played a bunch off the new album. Pretty awesome stuff.

The person putting together the Opeth/Moonspell tour chose Devildriver over Kataklysm. Sorry mistake I'll say. There some big ordeal about it on their website, and a bunch of people in the Opeth forums are in uproar over it as well.
