Thinking of upgrading my Aeon Noir 2 to these new E3's. Does anyone know if the cable connections to the headphone cups are the same Aeon Noir 2?

I know it is subjective, but has anyone "upgraded" from the Aeon Noir to the E3, was there a good upgrade in sound???

Many thanks!

I'm using a FIIO KA17 - 625mw @30ohms per channel balanced, at a little under half volume.
From my understanding, the chord is 600mw total @30ohm- so basically half the power per channel. I imagine this means you'd be running at close to max volume, which might not be a great experience.

It's awesome on the KA17, btw. It's very small, portable, and the macbook powers it without a problem via USB. It's not battery powered though.

Yeah Mojo didn't seem to be a good enough oomph option. I landed up w the BAL2 . Pretty solid w the E3.
I still feel like the E3 benefit from a bit of sub eq add but, still good / impactful straight in, w the higher gain setting typically.
Might be lack of cranium density or?? in my head that feels the need for a bit more 50-100hz in general. Ha. Felt the same about the MM500.

There is already a thread for the E3.

I heard it at a meet yesterday. Its good for a closed back which I do not like in general. Nice isolation, very mature sound. Maybe a little short of 'air' on top and not IMO possessing the same lower bass of the E2 - which I really liked. It did seem a bit closed in on one cut. But overall it's nice. I would probably get a HFM Arya Unveiled or HEK SE (and PEQ them - needs it more than the E3) if I was buying, but if I needed a closed back, these could be it.

Still really like to see an open E3 or just call it E4..

I have the Arya Stealth, and I *love* it.

But I can't use those in a crowded or noisy environment, so looked for a closed back to complement it. I like the Arya *slightly* more (I mean, it's an open back. They're my preference.), but the E3 comes really, really close, and in a lot of music is just better than the Arya. The fact that manages to feel so open for a closed back is also astonishing.

I have a feeling that when I get back from my travels, and try my arya again, I may discover that I actually prefer the E3, especially once I've had the 'brain' burn in.
The general tuning on the E3 is better than the Arya. The arya just has an open airy spaciousness that a closed back can't compete with. I can see why many would love the E3 over the Arya.

I think the E3 is fantastic, and am very happy with the purchase.
