The right channel in my iGrados went dead.

I didn't think it was anything major, so i popped open the driver unit and to my horror look at what i found:

the wire (the one used for power if i'm not mistaken) has been severed!!

i am now a sad darkangel

as surgery for this is outta my league

let us have a moment of silence for my beloved iGrados...you will be sorely missed...

.....
.....
.....

now, the more important question is how do i move on?

Another iGrado?
something else?

any recommendations are welcome, but please, the replacements MUST be:
-portable
-can take a beating (I commute to NYC 4 days/wk)

:::sad darkangel is sad:::

Would Grado honor the warranty still or is it void now that it's been taken apart?

All Grado products carry a 90 day warranty

my iGrados, unfourtunatly, are about 10 months old, so the warranty is non-existent

That doesn't look too bad. Had I lived somewhere near you, I'd solder it up for you, but Toronto is a sorry five hundred kilometres from you. Maybe a Head-Fi member in your area would be willing to fix it up? A severed wire is really not a problem if you have any experience with soldering.

yeah, by the looks of it, you can repair that yourself.

take off the existing solder, strip the wire, resolder onto the same points...

It's not too hard. Even I've done similar and I'm not very experienced at soldering. It's worth a go anyway since, like you said, they're not in warranty.
