Why do the Senns HD580 and 600 have the smaller jack? Why; so they can charge MORE for the HD650!!!

"And the Senn phones are, strictly speaking, not portable phones either. You've been here long enough and you should know that by now."
I'm afraid i don't understand you.
I mean, since the cans i mentioned are not intended for portable use, why they have 1\8 jack...
I can't figure out why you think i said that Senns are portable...

No; it doesn't seem logical to use a "portable" sized plug on a more serious type in-door can. But the little plug with an adapter IS kinda handy!

I HAVE used my HD600 with my PCDP(not too good.

) and with my computer, and with my smaller plugged extension cable and having the smaller lighter plug seems like a good thing then. But for the serious listening out of the amp, having the adapter in the circuit does cause some potential concern.

And yeah! Perhaps the bigger plug does add a little class to the HD650 at that!

Probably due to the cost of that potentially damaging adapter!

My HD60 cable is working ok at the moment, and the convenience of it right now ain't too bad either. But from what I have read; the HD650 cable is the more robust unit. Have to wait and see what happens when it happens!

Supply & demand. Simple.

What wrong with using adapters? i use the 650 1/4" > 1/8" with my HD555 and i have no problems with it. better than the stock one, always felt like i was gonna break it if it moved around too much

600's have a 3.5mm end, with a super nice 3.5mm up to 1/4" adapter, hard to tell the difference (at least to me) over the 650 standard 1/4' end.

it is weird though the 600 cable with the 3.5mm end is about 2x as much as the higher quality 650 cable with the 1/4" end, I just ordered the 650 cable for my 600 from Sennheiser direct. both pretty inexpensive however.

I am not a big fan of adapters either, but use my 600s with my Hornet so am thankful they do have the 3.5mm end or I would be using an adapter for that connection, so I guess it goes both ways.
