I have decided to get a Gilmore Lite and now I am left looking for a DAC to use with it. I want something $200 or less. As for sound I now the G Lite is fairly neutral sounding and I want to be sure what ever DAC I use will not add brightness. I will be mainly using it with an HD650, HD580. I looked at the Pico Upsampling USB DAC, and the SPITFIRE 24 Bit DAC. Let me know if there are other DACs I should consider.

And the introductory period is over, so its $349 now. Although the Pico, while excellent, is also fairly neutral - one might even say the "cool" side of neutral, so if you're looking to add colouration or warmth, the Pico wont do it.

For less than $200 you won't find anything better than HOTAUDIO's Dac Straight IMO.

If you can find one used, an MSB Link DAC III is an amazing bang for the buck. Stock it accepts 24/96 through coax or TOSLINK and puts out 2 channels of some super awesome quality sound. It's the best $100 I've spent on my system. The Link DAC sold for $300 originally and I found one that was like new for $100. One very cool thing about this DAC is the huge array of upgrades you can buy from MSB. Check it out: www.msbtech.com

might be a good option for you also.

That price is quite attractive. I would hope its enough to tide me over till I get a decent vinyl setup.

I would like to see what others have to say on the Super Pro DAC707.
