Hi all,
I'm putting together a headphone testing rig, using the MiniDSP EARS and I'd like to ask for any advise on a suitable DAC/Amp to use with it.
I've read through the Headphonesty EARS article and plan to follow the advise given there generally.
However, as I assume a number of members here have put together similar testing setups, I'm hoping that people can suggest alternatives for what DAC and Amp arrangement would be a good choice.
My budget is around £200-300 ($250-400) although I'm also interested in suggestions outside of that range.
I'm assuming that when testing; low distortion is the name of the game, so a more clinical sound is desired, even if it's not the most pleasant amp to listen through.
It will be used to test all types of headphones from 8Ohms to 600+ and hard to drive planars.
A 2.5 or 4.4mm balanced output would be a nice feature, but not essential.
Cheers
