Hi,
Searching for a new compact headphone amp/dac combo, I've found this new device from Yulong :
https://www.shenzhenaudio.com/yulong-daart-canary-ess9018k2m-xmos-dsd-dac-jfet-input-class-a-headphone-amplifier.html
It is relatively small and has a pretty powerful class a headphone amp built using discrete components, the specs are as follows :
USB input: supports DoP64, DoP128, Native DSD64/128/256, PCM 16-32bit, 32-384KHz
Coaxial and Toslink input: supports PCM 16-24bit,44.1-384KHz
S/N ratio: -128dB
Dynamic range: 120dB
Distortion: 0.0004%
Frequency response: 20-30KHz -0.15dB
Crosstalk:-120dB
Headphone output: 100mW @ 600 Ohm, 200mW @ 300 Ohm, 400mW @ 150Ohm, 1000mW @ 32 Ohm
Dimension: 19cm*13cm*5cm
Weight: 0.7kg
This seems to compete directly with units like the Aune X1S, I've found a thread in a chinese forum :
http://www.erji.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1966636
that at least seems to say (google translate) that it pairs very well with Akg K70x and HD800, but not so well with warmer headphones (HD600, Beyer T1 MK2). Opinions on the DAC part are pretty confuse, since the translation from chinese isn't very clear.
Price is about 258$ depending on the finish (add 20$ for red color), so my question is, has anybody been able to listen to it and compare it to similar gear?, at least on paper it seems pretty good.
Regards.
