Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo - Discussion and Impressions Thread

Hi,

I am currently using the stock ipod to DAC cable. So to confirm using an upgraded cable does bring noticeable sonic improvements? I would've thought that this would not be as significant as it is extracting a digital signal. If this is worthwhile can someone suggest which maker would be the best for this cable. Thanks.

From my perspective, your thinking is spot on; that is extracting the digital signal will bring about the most signifigant increase in sound quality.  I'd listen to it for a while and get a baseline.

I got the ALO cables and I like them.

Personally I have found a worthwhile difference in sound using an upgraded LOD-CLAS cable. I found the sound quality gained in both bass tightness, pushed the mids forward a little and made the treble a little crisper yet at the same time becoming less tiring to listen to. I am sure there are a thousand others who say it is all hokum and is just me adjusting psychologically all I know is I can hear a difference and the difference is very worthwhile!

That photo is like pornography to a junky.....  So much sweet candy!!

I wish that I could compare the 71b to the Rx2.  Of all the products that are already available... it is the one that keeps calling out to me.....

Rx MK3 is coming and it's a nice contender to the 71b I hear :)
Currently needing more comparisons from whomever attended Can Jam!

off-the-shelf-from-best-buy-gear, his best being a Beyer Dynamic DT1350, you said that as if you have something better and comments like that are not very nice, if you dont like what a person has to say then ignore it and move on and Mod's would not have to come in and clear up.

Like I said, my main point was he's contending cables with gear that doesn't allow him to really hear cables. Please stop trying to exacerbate this situation; you're only causing more problems.

Don't worry pal (Waazup), all these pages will be gone in the morning like they were last time Girls Generation argued with me that short cables make no difference at all. Man..... some people just want to argue no matter what and the next week they are arguing on the opposite side of the fence. Mods need to look back at the all the content/pages of the thread they delete and see who creates all this hassle and act upon it....

I never said all cables didn't matter. I said, IME, short cables didn't matter as much as headphone cables.

Thanks.  Yes the Rx3 is certainly going to be a must have to accompany the CLAS.  I really like having the amp match the physical size of the CLAS so that makes it much nicer to carry.  Hopefully ALO wont charge an arm and a leg for the Rx3.

The 71/b seems to be the champion right now if cost was no object.

It may be overkill for iems like the JH16 but I have heard that dynamics and soundstage are improved by going balanced.

I don't own JH16's but own ES5's and the difference between single ended and balanced was better than I expected, well worth it.

P.S. that was with the PB-2 not the 71-B from what I hear the 71-B will yeald even greater rewards.

On a positive note, as I type this I am listening with LCD-2's fed by the most amazing stranded silver cable. This cable is better single ended than my ''Mogami'' balanced cable. I would have expected balanced to have the edge but materials beat application here by a substancial amount. My source is the same as Ian's

Spud, just done my review and posted it. I chose to use my ety's for the comparison test but I agree completely with your thoughts with the LCD's!

The instructions on the CLAS says that after a full charge the light starts blinking but mine has been charging all day and although it is not really blinking i see the light slighly dim and back so could this be the blinking the instructions talk of as i would have thought the battery would have charged in 10 hours.

Yes that's actually the blinking they are talking about. It's kind of hard to see if I charge my CLAS far away but oh well! Hope you enjoy your CLAS. :)
