CX300

I wanted these too but they didnt sound like they would last me and I didnt like what people said about sound so I took a risk and got Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets (yeah yeah I know) for $60 mainly for their great warranty and I was impressed with smokin buds my friend got for me on clearance for $10 at FYE. Im actually liking them, but I dont know if I could recommend them just because everyone is different. I really liked my JVC air cushions before that.

such as the Vsonic r02-Pro's or even the Yiun PK3's if you're not in a noisy environment...

I've had the CX300's and the PK3's and gees, the PK3 absolutely won over the CX300's for sound quality.

the CX300's work quite nicely with the iPod's op-amps; especially with a rockbox EQ.

Nope, it is not, their sound is totally different sound, CX300 has bigger driver thus bigger bass, some people said it's bloated bass. EP630 sound is not as refined as CX300, all and all, plus and minuses, i like CX300 better for my taste.

Beware, there's a lot of fakes CX300 in circulation, Google it, you'll find it.

Off topic: I'm entertained by downbc1's efforts reviving old CX300 threads. I don't know whether to say thanks or ignore these posts...

On Topic: My friend loves these headphones - when I listened to it, they sounded like how people described the HD650's - bassy, recessed mids, not too much treble. So, going of these characteristics, what full sized Senns sound similar to the CX300? They need to be forgiving, but otherwise they can improve on the aspects of the CX300.

Thanks in advance!

It's an amazing learning process as each person grows in experience... and mostly according to what they can afford. I used to push EX-71s on friends when I first decided to give the 'ear-plug' style phones a try. They were 'perfect' until I got the CX-300s... and now that my ears have been 'opened' by full-size Denon 1001s (and to give credit, the Creative Aurvana Live), NONE of my canalphones sound 'right' anymore. :p

I don't think anyone would buy a full sized Sennheiser that has a similiar sound signature to the CX300s, well atleast I know I wouldn't

Perhaps I'll make him try my Grados to make choosing headphones for him easier

i would go for v-modas or something semi-open like that. the CX300's do sound a bit muddy. even the sony ericssons are a slight improvement (again, semi-open - tiny holes in the back)

CX300's used to be a guilty pleasure whenever I missed really boomy and muddy bass. I used to love them until I discovered Ultimate Ears SF3 Studio and now that Logitech has ruined the brand, I'm forever an Etymotic man sub-$100.

I suppose the Klipsh Image S4's should be a good alternative. Has anyone compared them to the CX300's?
