I remember reading about people applying a layer of some kind of acrylic to their customs to get a tighter fit.
 
Anyone know exactly what they used & can point me to some please?

I'd suggest covering it with crazy glue and shoving it inside your ear.  Make sure to cover it evenly to ensure a good seal.
