I just got a pair of ATH-EC7 SV from eBay the other day.
It was only $20 shipped! So I was like wth, its only $20 I'll give them a try even though they are probably "fake".

When I received it i was amazed at the quality and sound of these earphones (OVER POWERS my MDR-EX51 and EX71 -- even overpowers their bass when they are pressed in!). I had doubts about its authenticity so I bought a new retail pair from Microcenter the import ATH-EC7 GM ($149.99+tax). Come to my surprise they were both IDENTICAL!!! (besides the color

). The sound and built is identical, every marking and design is the same. So I concluded that the ebay seller does indeed sell 100% OEM Audio Technica ATH-EC7!
If you want to try it out yourself,

Here's a link to seller's items:

Anyways going back to the adapter. I got a new SGH-T809 2 weeks ago and I hate having to use the earphones that came with the phone. So today I took apart the earphone/mic headset and added a 3.5mm female adapter :-D now any earphones with a miniplug can be used for my T809

Well here are some pics of my adapter project!

Ya I got a pair off ebay for about the same price. I looked later and there are quite a few of them. I'm not sure why they are so cheap but they are great headphones for the price.

I have a so called "fake" pair of Cm7's that I got for 15 and after listening to them they definitely blow my ksc75's out of the water. I'm going to grab a pair of these too, since the cm7's dont stay in as well as I'd like though

i don't believe the hype!
earphones costing almost usd100.00 on cheap sites like bluetin.com are sold for less then a tenth! plus the outrageous shipping costs...
smells alot like fraud to me

I believe you got fake ones. I may be wrong, but hear me out.

Here is a picture from the official Audio Technica website:

and a larger version:

Note that the rubber that covers the ear clip extends just to where the clip starts curving whereas the rubber on your EC7s extend to cover the curve as well.

Anyone can confirm this? However, if you did buy another "real" one and it looks exactly the same as the "fake" one, then I'm wrong...

I've noticed that on the site picture too but the actual real item from Microcenter ($149.99) has the same amount of covering on the hinges. Also there is a thread here where the EC7 is compared to the A8 and those EC7 looks exactly like what I've gotten from eBay.

Maybe it's a matter of mass-produced vs. japanese market versions?

Maybe the japanese market version is either made in japan or made to higher tolerances compared to the hong-kong/china mass produced versions.

Right maybe you're right. The reviewer, Elephas, bought them for HKD$980, which seems right to me. The CD shop Hong Kong Records sell them for a similar price and hence, I think that they are probably real. It might just be a slight variation in product manufacturing process due to different production locations.

I too am tempted to get a pair from this eBay seller of yours. He seems to have an immaculate record. How he gets them at that price is unknown.
