M400 used the Flagship DAC chip AK4499.
USB uses the second XMOS XU216, supports native DSD, and 32bit 768kHz!
The clock system uses 2 ACCUSILICON ultra-low phase noise crystal oscillators.
Using ALTERA's high-speed CPLD to process the clock and reduce the JITTER

IMO it misses the mark from a pricing perspective but we’ll see what the reviews say once it’s well circulated.

I want to see pictures of the screen in real for the m400. That blue glow on the top and bottom in the renders just seems strange to me.

If you already know that you like the way THX-AAA-based amps sound, then I would get the M400.

Mainly becasue in near future, you'll be able to get SMSL's THX-based SP400 amp, which will stack perfectly with the M400, and you can sell your THX 789.
I feel a trend where it becomes more important how good components look when stacked together.

Gustard A18 seems to be the first semi-reasonably priced AK4499 dac from a renowned brand ($532 on Aliexpress). Edit: measurements available at ASR.

Also Breeze Hifi NCX10 seems to be the first AK4499 desktop dac with a built-in headphone amplifier.

Anyone knows if cayin n6ii's I2S output can serve gustard a22?

Really want to verify that. There are too many different I2S definitions.

Gustard A18 sounds good to me, I like it better than my Sabaj D5. But, its remote is almost useless, it cannot power on/off the unit, and
no auto shutoff, no power button in the front panel, only in the back. I eventually return it where I bought it free of shipping back. (Apos, highly recommended)

There is no sleep button on the remote? That's not good...

Very helpful info. Thanks!
