CS8414 big brother of CS8412?

I was under the impression that it was the opposite Clutz... the 8414 was better thought of than the 8412. As for fakes, I haven't directly heard of any, but it wouldn't surprise me. The CS8414 may still be available from Newark.

@ majkel- Because they aren't pin compatible.

@Clutz- I was under the impression that the CS8414 was better as well. Something about lower jitter.


Also, what brands of transformers are highly regarded? I just need a 120v main to 12v secondary. If that didn't make any sense, give me a rundown on transformers, please.

For the transformer look at the amveco torroids at Digikey.

I seriously doubt anyone can hear the difference between a 8412 and a 8414, just buy what you can find.
