Really? I have the 8800GTS 320MB and I have everything set to maximum settings except for textures and post processing, which are set to medium. Res is 1680x1050. Runs VERY nicely.

Well I did set everything on high, aside from textures. I'll try those settings and see if there's a improvement.

You really should use High textures. There is a very large difference in quality between the High and Medium settings for Textures in Crysis. I'd go so far to say its worth ticking most things to Medium and just keeping Textures at High.

The moment I set the textures to high, even with everything else at medium, I get unplayable framerates. To me, the game looks fantastic even with textures at medium.

Are you running it in Vista or XP? I believe you need DX10 (Vista) to change any of the settings to "Very High."

Is this being played on your Mac? Maybe that's why... Macs really aren't cut for gaming, you know.

I hope that was sarcasm.

Anywho, I hope you guys know that the new 8800GT is coming out tomorrow, and it costs around $250, and the benchmarks indicate it is only a few FPS behind the 8800GTX that people paid more than twice as much for.

Rumor has it though, that a revises 8800GTS is arriving November, so choose wisely!

Meh... too tired to start another argument over Mac vs. PC. Let's drop it.

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this yet, Crysis single player demo was released last night. I've been playing it, the visuals are impressive. Loads of detail, needs v-sync though. Demo weighs in at 1.77gb and is available from many locations including FilePlanet.com

I'm running an 8800GTX at 1920x1200, all settings on high, no AA, and I get some chugging during big firefights, seems there isn't a card on the market that can run this game smoothly at max settings.

what if u do a sli?

Ahh, silly me. I was wondering why it didn't understand the executable file.

XP, that would explain it I guess.

Not sure, I gave up on SLI after the 6800 series. Not a big enough increase to justify the cost of the second card.

Don't forget about AMDs HD2950 line coming next month.

AMD is not releasing a HD2950, instead RV670 is going to be 3800. Which is 14 or so days away and I'd highly suggest people wait for that and not jump right away on the 8800GT which is released tomorrow (Monday, 29th). I'm doubtful it'll perform better but you never know and a two week wait is certainly worth it for a potentially better card and then price changes/deals.

There is a way to get Very High in XP I do believe, but I forget the tweak since I have no purpose (my video card wouldn't cut it afterall).
