*comes barging in, wearing his DT831's like a war helmet, sounds of combat behind him*

Hark! Brave sir knight! I need thy aid on the field of battle! ONWARD!
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/s...386#post284201

Alas! Thou needest the latest battle report! I have parlayed with the Foe, and their leader is despicable!

glueycwal: you have never played with a sine wave generator, have you?
glueycwal: gluegun of tranceaddict...
DJ teknique9: proggy sounds familiar
DJ teknique9: but i don't think i played with it
glueycwal: incoming files
glueycwal wants to send file C:\sinewave\*: here
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\mmErrMsg.pas.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\resource.h.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\version.rc.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\version.res.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\file_id.diz.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\SweepGen.res.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\SweepGen.exe.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\SweepGen.ico.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\ReadMe.txt.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\MAINFORM.PAS.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\MAINFORM.dfm.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\SweepGen.dpr.
DJ teknique9 received C:\sinewave\SweepGen.dof.
DJ teknique9: its kind of inaccurate
glueycwal: oh, how so?
DJ teknique9: well...
glueycwal: well what? hearing dissapears at 20 and 20 for me...
DJ teknique9: a human ear cant head pass 20000
glueycwal: well, are you playing with that?
glueycwal: most human ears cant
DJ teknique9: yea, and i hear 35000
glueycwal: most human ears go to 16k a few go to 22k.
glueycwal: really.... you put 35k in there, and you can hear it?
glueycwal: so, do you writhe in agony around bats?
DJ teknique9: yea....so i say its inaccurate
DJ teknique9: huh?
glueycwal: are you listening to that sine wave generator now?
glueycwal: those files I sent you?
DJ teknique9: yea
DJ teknique9: i am'
glueycwal: and what's wrong with them?
glueycwal: play 20 hz.... now, do you ever hear anything that low in trance?
DJ teknique9: well i can hear 35000....thats bs
glueycwal: i think that you misjudged your hearing.....this generator is accurate
DJ teknique9: no i must say my hearing is fine
glueycwal: so, with that generator, where can you stop hearing?
glueycwal: hmm?
DJ teknique9: let me try going to 40000
glueycwal: LOL!
DJ teknique9: and dood i can seriously hear it
glueycwal: its not THAT well made....
DJ teknique9: ok
DJ teknique9: i just went to 48000
glueycwal: there are distortions.... *goes off to hear that* 1 sec
DJ teknique9: and 48000 was LOWER then 40000 What???
DJ teknique9: i now remember this proggy, my freind max, he is from trance addict too, told me about it
DJ teknique9: so i told him to try 30000 and he could hear
glueycwal: 1 sec
glueycwal: this prog is buggy....
DJ teknique9: yea indeed
DJ teknique9: and as for 20hz in trance
DJ teknique9: i have a subwoofer in my car
DJ teknique9: and its low range is 15-1500
DJ teknique9: my amp gives me 5-250hz
DJ teknique9: and i must say that if u play joykinzer (can't spell that) physical mix it is pretty bassy there
DJ teknique9: along with PVDs remix of 10 in 1
glueycwal: ah! okay!
glueycwal: 16000 is accurate
glueycwal: 30000 isnt
DJ teknique9: yea
glueycwal: 17000 is accurate
DJ teknique9: it produces some ******** after 20000
glueycwal: 17500
glueycwal: listen to that
glueycwal: listen to 17800!
glueycwal: can you hear that high?
DJ teknique9: yes
glueycwal: 17800 is accurate
DJ teknique9: its fukcing up my ears though
glueycwal: now..... does trance ever go that high?
glueycwal: anywhere NEAR that high?
DJ teknique9: correction
DJ teknique9: trance is not a continous wave of 17800
glueycwal: select HF and log, and slow, and go test that one.....
glueycwal: true, it should have harmonics around there, right?
DJ teknique9: you might hear that at sometime for a little period of time....l
DJ teknique9: anyway, what are you trying to prove here?
DJ teknique9: did u read my reply on the post i made about monitor speakers....?
glueycwal: well.....the idea was that you are putting a little bit more faith into what numbers they give for the freq response than you should
glueycwal: almost NO ONE measures that accurately.....
DJ teknique9: no
glueycwal: there is no standard way to measure it
DJ teknique9: actually i shouldnt
DJ teknique9: ok
glueycwal: like, the mdr-v600's, those supposedly go down to, what, 7, 3, hz? and in reality, they have a ****ING HUGE rolloff at 60 hz
DJ teknique9: start with distortion
glueycwal: you know?
glueycwal: like, if you do a GRAPH of the frequency response,
glueycwal: THEN you can get somewhere, LOL!
DJ teknique9: i don't know what V600 go to, i have 7505
glueycwal: yea
glueycwal: read my reply, LOL!
DJ teknique9: give me a sec
DJ teknique9: 7505 is not a DJ headphone
DJ teknique9: thats to start off with
glueycwal: true....
glueycwal: but, regardless, teh V6/7506 whoops the whole lot of em, LOL!
DJ teknique9: so yuor friend is wrong
DJ teknique9: V6 is a piece of ****
glueycwal: reaaaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyy.........
glueycwal: why do you say that?
DJ teknique9: their driver is ****ed up, the ear surrounding is ****ed up
glueycwal: oh?
DJ teknique9: and i am not saying 7505 is all that great
glueycwal: you mean they don't go around your ears?
DJ teknique9: they are not
DJ teknique9: yes
glueycwal: the 7506's are supraural if you have big ears, and circumaural if you have small ones.
glueycwal: either way, they block out outside sound, have good bass, and sound good
glueycwal: but, if you replace the stock pads with the velour pads from the beyerdynamic dt250's
glueycwal: they are always circumaural, no matter the size of your ears
glueycwal: and they are much more comfy as well
glueycwal: and the driver is *not* messed up
glueycwal: maybe you had a defective pair
DJ teknique9: i had a nice pair, and if i buy a pair of headphones for like $100 i don't wonna spend more money to replace the ear surroundings
glueycwal: well, what is wrong with supraural headphones?
glueycwal: and they aren't $100
glueycwal: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hogwildstore/mdrv6.html
glueycwal: they're cheaper than all of those other DJ headphones you buy.....
glueycwal: V600 is $100
glueycwal: V700DJ is $140
glueycwal: and the V6's are better than the lot of them
glueycwal: so, how is the driver messed up?
DJ teknique9: the mids sound lost
glueycwal: oh?
DJ teknique9: but if u listen to me for a sec i'll explaine what i said in the post
DJ teknique9: 20000
DJ teknique9: as supposued HUMAN highs
DJ teknique9: ok
DJ teknique9: so u got yourself a 18000 tops on your speakers....u made a track your synth is mostly in highs
DJ teknique9: u crank up the volume and next thing u know....distortion
glueycwal: uh, I was talking about monitors, friend.....
glueycwal: monitors, by definition, are made to play accurately
glueycwal: and flat
glueycwal: not neccessarily loud
DJ teknique9: i am talking about those spakers u are trying to get
glueycwal: okay, go on....
DJ teknique9: well dood, you, me, anyone who makes music, will crank it up at one point
DJ teknique9: once u are into it u'll make it louder
glueycwal: true.
glueycwal: but, it's not a function of the music for distortion in it... it's a function of the system, right?
DJ teknique9: yea
glueycwal: if you make sure there is no distortion in it, a good system will play it loudly
glueycwal: so, like, with those and the V6's, if it sounds good in both.....
DJ teknique9: yes
DJ teknique9: and that is what i am trying to say
glueycwal: what would be the problem?
glueycwal: uh.
glueycwal: wait, im confused....
DJ teknique9: if your speaker makes 35000hz
DJ teknique9: you probobly won't even hear 18000
DJ teknique9: BUT yours highs will be much clearer
DJ teknique9: like for example...system f - exhale
DJ teknique9: you heard that song right?
glueycwal: *heads to audiogalaxy*
DJ teknique9: listen to it, its got a nice synth
DJ teknique9: and when i listen to it in my old car, which had some ****ty speakers it really hurt my ears
DJ teknique9: but when i listened to them at my house where the speakers are better, it was more pleasureous to the ear
DJ teknique9: and of course the better the monitor the more expensive they are
DJ teknique9: thats why i use headphones

Verily! This is the state of the battle! ONWARD, VALIENT HEAD-FIAN SOLDIERS!

Get Stomper Hyperion for making your sine waves (just search on google)
And remember to set the sampling rate for the generated wavs at 44.1kHz

Otherwise if you use 32kHz or 22kHz all high frequencies are obviously gonna get all fukked up

He should be able to hear up to ~16kHz and then lose hearing before 20kHz. THEN when you start hearing stuff beyond 20kHz you know it's just the speakers acting up, secondary frequency, distortion and all that
