Hello everyone,

After my gaming headset broke, I found this site have been on this forum extensively for the past couple weeks.  I knew nothing about sound before coming here and now I know only enough to be dangerous.

My use is 70% gaming and 30% listening to music and watching movies.  Although I have always build my gaming systems, I have always skimped on sound.  I am starting to learn that I have been missing out significantly.  I am not an audiophile, and my most expensive headset I have ever owned was about $40.

Now it is time to do it.  After two weeks of struggling through this, here is what I am thinking.
Creative x-fi titanium HD (replace my on board sound on my ASUS Sabertooth x58)
DT 990 pro 250 ohm

Am I correct that the titanium card is going to drive the DT 990's without requiring an amp?

The DT990 250-Ohm headphones will work plugged straight into the headphone jack of the Creative Titanium HD.
Will the DT990 250-Ohm work to the best of it's ability?

PurpleAngel, you phrase the question more correctly.  Will DT990 pro work to the best of its ability just plugged into the Titanium HD?  If the improvement is very slight, my untrained ears will not notice the difference.

Even if it is near optimal, I am fairly confident that the HD990 is going to be a very nice improvement to all the other stuff I have been putting on my head.
