Hi, I'm really really curious which one has more bass, the ep630's or the super.fi 3's because I've heard the SF3's don't have much bass

Thanks in advance!

More bass doesn't equal to better sound. EP-630' bass is very muddy, no detail at all. You will be better off with SF3, or Nuforce NE-7M if you can scale your budget up a bit.

Yes I know that's true, but I'm a basshead

Just want to know what I should be expecting (punchy bass etc)

Thanks

The EP630s, like the CX300s are dirt cheap (<$30), and have plenty of bass. It's just not very good bass. Mids and highs sounded drowned out, but you could feel the bass. Not bad, for an IEM. An E5, if you have one, serves to kick it up a notch (only a subwoofer could do better).

SF3s, on the other hand, are brighter. Bass is there. You can hear it. You won't feel it. But the overall sound signature is much more even, and to me, enjoyable. They're also a lot more expensive. I think ER6i, and UM1s are in the same price category.

You could try taking a look at CX500s. They'd be a tier up from the CX300s.

Oh. I liked the cable on the CX300s. Wrapped around your ear, the microphonics disappear. Not so much with SF3s.

EP630 is OEM'ed by the same company that supply CX300 to Sennheiser, Foster Japan.

If you are a basshead, the SF3 is unlikely to make you happy, it's definitely on the bass light side. At the same price range, you might want to look at the Denon offerings, the C751 and C551.

Having said that, bass is overrated and you should learn how not to be a basshead.

Enjoy your flat bass drum.

It's not like bass is a bad thing, it's just that good bass balanced with the mids and highs is a bit harder to come by.

Real bassheads enjoy *good* bass. Deep, well-defined & impactful. The EP-630 is not good bass. It is dark, muddy bass. Not really booming, which is what I suspect the OP is looking for. I thought the EP-630 were OK, until I listened to more balanced 'phones. When I went back to the EP-630, it was very disappointing.
