Gracias a la Vida-Rosa Leon(+piano and violin-nice vocals...)
Gracias a la Vida-Elis Regina(good)
Gracias a la Vida-Maria Jimenez(very special & "spanish"-"flamenco" style+castagnetas...)
Gracias a la Vida-Alberto Cortes(male vocals-so and so...)

Primus & Ozzy-N.I.B(Black Sabbath cover)

NOFX-Iron Man(Black Sabbath cover)
Slayer-Hand of Doom(Black Sabbath cover)

Dream Theater & Iron Maiden-Smoke on the Water

Good call on Marilyn Manson -- even though I am not a huge fan of his, I have always enjoyed his covers. I saw the following bit on eMpTyV or SNL (I forget which):

Comedian: (holds hand to ear like a phone) Hello, Marilyn Manson please? Yes, this is Satan. Stop it. You're scaring me.

Death Cab For Cutie (whom I usually find boring) do an amazing cover of Bjork's All is Full of Love

Bowie's cover of the Pixie's Cactus on his latest album is sorta interesting too.

Speaking of the Pixies, their cover of Neil Young's Winterlong is really good (It's too bad Black Francis/RanskBlack didn't let Kim do anymore vocal parts in there later albums...).

grinch, good call on "Where Did You Sleep Last Night." That one of my favorite Nirvana songs off MTV Unplugged. Cobain just puts so much emotion into it on that one.

Lots of other great covers in here, too. A few that haven't been mentioned:
  1. "Hard to Handle," performed by The Black Crowes
  2. "I Fought the Law," performed by The Clash
  3. "Scarlet Begonias," performed by Sublime

Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies (Lou Reed) Better than the original IMHO

Leaving on a Jet Plane - Chantal Kreviazuk (John Denver) She plays it way better live than the radio/soundtrack version

Redemption Song - Chantal Kreviazuk (Bob Marley) Performed live at a recent concert

Daniel - Tori Amos (Elton John) Heard only in live concerts

All I have to do is Dream - R.E.M. (Everly Brothers)

Tori and Chantal do some really good covers on their live concert sets. Everything from Neil Young, John Lennon, Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, U2, and quite a few others get covered.
