Some covers that worked for me:

lemonhead, Mrs robinson (rocking!)

screaming jets, shivers (sends a shiver down my spine, everytime)

shonen knife, calling occupants of interplanetary craft (catchy! with bad english)

faye wong's cover of tori's winter (tori is a goddess)

some cover that didnt work for me:
Frente's Bizarre Love Triangle (not bad just gets on my nerve after awhile)
Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal (amusing)
Kelly Osborne's Pappa Don't Preach (blah)

any other good covers?

The English Beat: Tears of A Clown.
Exhorder: Into the Void.
Natalie Merchant: The Gulf of Araby. (I think this version of the Katell Kening song exists only on the Sessions at West 54th show, I don't think she ever recorded it.)

Some of my favourites:

Paranoid - Type O Negative (Black Sabbath)
You Really Got Me - Oingo Boingo (Kinks)
Purple Haze - Cure (Jimi)
Satisfaction - Devo (Rolling Stones)
Head Like a Hole - Devo (Nine Inch Nails)
Leyla - Eric Clapton (Derek and the Dominos)

There are many others -- I have way too many tribute albums, but those are the ones that stand out.

Indeed, I ignored that one because they have totally made it their own. Good call. Basically, any time Devo do a cover, one should listen.
