There is so much awesome country music. You are doing yourself a great injustice by stating country sucks and never giving it a chance. I used to be in that camp. Once I gave it a chance, I listened to it primarily for 2 years. A lot of it is very well recorded and mastered too.

My favorites off the top of my head:
Billy Joe Shaver
Steve Earle
Allison Moorer
Alison Krauss
Gillian Welch
Guy Clark
Townes Van Zandt
Waylon
Willie
Cash
Merle Haggard
Gram Parsons / The Flying Burrito Brothers
Emmylou Harris
Mickey Newbury
Rodney Crowell
Robert Earl Keen
Hank Williams
James McMurtry
Loretta Lynn
Slaid Cleaves
Dylan - Nashville Skyline
Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo

Then there is Alt-country:
The Jayhawks
Uncle Tupelo
Son Volt
Ryan Adams / Whiskeytown
Old 97's
Lucinda Williams
Golden Smog
Drive By Truckers

For those who don't live down South (and are thus not exposed to the variety of Country music), and/or haven't investigated the genre, most of what we hear is the Pop-country that brings my blood to a boil.  It's honestly an almost completely different genre!

Maybe a bit more Americana than Country, but does anyone here like Hayes Carll?
