Counting Down to 10 000 posts: an MS-paint Thread!

What in the hell is the meaning of this thread again, besides it being a complete post count dump? Is it the "post the number of posts you have to add another post + random paint drawings" thread or something?

I agree. Sorry to spoil the fun, but we've always closed threads that have been designed primarily to pimp post counts. In the more severe cases, we'll actually delete the threads in question which means that any posts in those threads will be removed from post counts.

It's no big deal in the scheme of things, so no worries. The main thing is to avoid a situation where one silly post whore thread inspires another, and then another, to the point that the forums get filled with them.

Thus, the general rule is that if the thread in question is serving no other legitimate purpose (i.e., it doesn't have a topic as such but is instead simply a place for inane posts or discussions about post counts themselves), we close the thread.

Where, as here, there have been some fun side trips, it's kind of a shame to have to close it. But since it keeps coming back to discussions about post counts, the above rule applies. Again, not a huge issue, and this is probably why nothing explicitly is mentioned about this in the Terms of Use. It's just a common sense rule of thumb that we've applied for years.
