Hi, first i have to say: Headfi, you're the devil! my poor wallet....

So about my real topic: i own a sennheiser hd595 (thanks to headfi
orphsmile.gif
) right now, which i hook up to my sony receiver. after reading through the forum, i thought, what about a dedicated headphone amp? one amp that caught my eye is the Corda Aria. So my question is, do the senns benefit from the aria ( i have the 50ohms version of the hd595), or do the senns do well without an amp, since they are pretty easy to drive?
Or are there other (better?) options for my headphone?

thx

The 595 is a serious high-end headphone and as such will always improve with good amplification. The only thing here is that other headphones have shown greater improvement with an amp that the 595 does, but that doesn't make it irrelevant. Also, once you have an amp you are free to use whatever headphones you want at their best performance.

The Corda Aria is a great buy. Get one before they run out!

Oh yes, they will definetly benefit from a quality amp.
Before you plug in the amp for the first time, give the 595 a listen through your sony for a few minutes, then plug the amp directly to a source (cd player, preferrably) and I gaurentee you will be very happy.

The Aria made a big difference in my 595s. To my ears the improvement was bigger than what I got going from unamped -> TAH and mine are the 120 Ohm version. I love the combination.

I just wish i would have started earlier with my search, cause after the jubileum sale the Aria costs 425€
(at least for me, inside the european union (that are 510$!!!).

I STRONGLY suggest an amp for the 595. I own a pair and after purchasing both the supermacro v.1 then the g-lite, i was uberly stoked about the difference from my head-out from my reciever. Biggest difference you ask? I'd say soundstage and overall clarity

The Aria sounds brilliant! Dynamic, tight & punchy bass, tons of detail, smooth! and don't forget the very useful built-in DAC.

My only concern is, you might move to the HD650 afterwards...

Cool, make sure you give it at least 75-100 hours before you make your final impressions on the amp.
