So I realised that my laptop doesn't have a line out, and I'm forced to connect through the headphones jack.
But is the sound quality is the same by connecting through the black ring, or is it better through line out.

The headphone jack will include output from your laptop's internal amp. Whether that's good depends on the quality of your laptop's innards.

If you want line out, you'll need a USB DAC, or possibly optical if it has optical out.

I'm not so sure what optical/optical out means.

I get good sound on my laptop, much better than my crappy psp, so I'm sure
it has a decent soundchip. If I want to connect my PSP to an amp to my headphones,
will the sound difference be audible, since there's no way to bypass the PSP's horrible internal amp/dac.
