Confused noob--Apple lossless >192k, but DAC's accept only 192k?

^ Yeah I guess so. I can play the files with VLC for example since they go through the windows Kmixer. Bit-perfect on Foobar is a nono though. I am pretty confident that the high sample-rate is to blame here.
So now I just need a good converting tool to down-rate them. I do some mp3 and flac conversion from time to time but chaning sample-rates is new to me!

I am not familiar with changing sample-rate either, but know that SoX allow you to do so.

Something like: "sox input.wav -r 96000 output.wav"

You'd do just as well to convert it to 16bit 44.1kFS/s. You would save disk space and not loose any audio quality. 16bit provides more dynamic range than vinyl and the frequency spectrum of vinyl will also fit within a sample rate of 44.1k. I've got no idea why the rip was done at 192kFS/s, a complete waste of space.
