Computer question: Using a P4 heatsink for core2duo

. . . my question actually is:

WHY?

Are you overclocking your C2D, do you have a transparent window, do you live in a desert where the average room temperature is above 35'c or is the rest of the pc is dead silent so the stock cooling is too noisy for you?

If neither of these reasons count for you i wouldnt even bother. Core 2 Duo's are VERY cool and also the stock fan is nice and quiet (because of the automatic fan speed based on the C2D's temps).

And good thermal paste cost's a few bucks (i recommend Zalman's thermal grease any day!).

And hey, if it ain't broken, dont fix it.

I have do have Zalman CNPS 9700 NT hanging on my E6300 @ 2ghz myself, but i did it because three of the above reasons count for me (home-made-plexyglass side, overclocked (just to 2Ghz, cause: bad mobo), and everything in my pc is whisper silent, so i wanted to be sure that the cpu fan is very quiet too.)
