iFi @ the Bristol A/V Show. EL-8 and Retro charming the Girls

For those outside of the UK Show scene, this show is sponsored by What HiFi? and Audio-T.

Therefore, it is the most popular UK audio/visual show with around 4-5k visitors.

This year, iFi took out a shell suite in the main hall.

The main takeaway is that the iFi components and in particular the Retro Stereo 50+LS3.5 system really attracted the ladies as it a system they can get involved in (ie: few switches, one-box solution, just plug and play).

We hope you like these pics.

AlClairs Curves - the entry model was by Alclair was tested by some - though in-ears need to grow in popularity in the UK as headphones dominate.

This gentleman was "selling" the Retro to his wife!

Our Caroline testing the EL-8s on the iFi "Big Rig"

One couple checking the Retro and another couple checking out the "Big Rig"

This Mr & Mrs like to messa round - as the Retro just makes you smile!

Nice and busy on the iFi stand

What are these? Running simulatenously on the Retro system???

...yes you can hook-up two headphones via the 3.5mm + 6.3mm and listen at what is almost the same volume!

This girl liked the LCD-Xs on the "Big Rig"

This lady liked the HE-6s on the Retro

This setup sure sounds good! Honey, I want this full system, get your wallet out.

The Retro just makes you smile.

Though her partner has to wait his turn to get a listen.

This lady was just listening to the Retro via the LS3.5 speakers as she does not use headphones

This lady was all over the Retro.

We had a great time and will be back again next year.

That may have been the ATH-MSR7 that was kindly lent by the guys on the Audio-Technica stand. I was so impressed I bought a pair to upgrade my aging M50's.

Spoke with US distributor for iFi, and they were quite enthusiastic about the Retro system.  Even mentioned the possibility of vying for some "best in show" sound at upcoming events.  May get a test system in soon for audition to carry at Inner Sanctum Audio.

Big iFi Audio fan here!  I noticed there wasn't a thread dedicated to the Retro Stereo 50 and with it's eventual release in the States I think it's time to start one.

I had the opportunity to hear the Retro system at CanJam '14 and I loved what it did with HiFiMan headphones.  I didn't get to hear the Retro's speakers.  Did anyone here on Head-Fi get to hear the entire system sing?

This is a system I think my wife could live with.  I'll let you know when I have the courage to ask her

Have a guess!
