Back to the point. I would think the Denon D7000 would be an overall improvement on everything. The K701 would be a further improvement on soundstage and detail, but bass... arguably a downgrade


Yep, I knew that from your first post. But from experience, and to be frank, this OP worries too much about this is "better" than that too much. A headphone can have amazing phase response, speed and soundstage and all that, but if the FR isn't right, you'll never like it. And small trade-offs are okay, frankly.
