C3 on sale at amazon .co.uk for £149.  still worth it. will justify later, but i think sale should be known regards peter

you shall be kidding. I have never understood the British desire to be different - you have higher products taxes, pound/dollar ratio is 1,6 and still a lot of prices are the same in nominal, but different as value (99 USD for a piece of garbage in USA equals to 99 GBP for the same piece of garbage in UK).
You want to say that Colorfly C3, on sale, for 240 USD is a real, worthy deal? Excuse me, but if you have too much money, why don't you share them with me? :)

For 250$ - a big piece of garbage.
The design and UI at least look as they were designed by a blind person.
I don't wank at SQ. I am a normal man, who looks for balance, not for extremes.

Considering the ebay price floating around is around half of that,  or even less, 124 pound is not a worthy sales

Yeah but they're from china. So if they're £65 then the customs tax will be £13 and the delivery £10 so £88, unless there's also a handling fee. And if anything goes wrong with it you'd have to ship it back to china.

I've never had a customs charge for anything from China

Has anyone else tried this? It's a gamble, to be sure, but eBay stands behind such purchases if they don't come through.

Both PayPal and eBay have been very good about eBay purchases I've made in the past that we're never delivered. If the unit is delivered but is a fake, I'm assuming the same protection will cover items different than described. The trick will be determining whether it's real or fake, I guess. Sound quality? Appearance? Other? Any suggestions or experience with that, short of dissection, will be most appreciated! If any are interested, I'll keep you posted on the status of this order I've already placed. I did receive notice that it has been shipped by China post.

The guy sells a little dot mkIII for the same price, but $50 shipping - if it is fake paypal and ebay will back you up - even if the seller asks that you ship it back because it is illegal to internationally ship a counterfeit item by USPS - that's how you get out of it - you may have to have some sort of proof it is counterfeit, though. A letter from an audio shop on letterhead would do.

I checked - the seller uses the exact same photos in his ad that little dot does on its website - EXACT photos. gotta be a scam - I wonder what you get for your $59 - lol

EDIT - the scam is that he will refund your purchase price, but not shipping - sure he will give you back $9 - but try to keep the $30 or $50 he charges for shipping - so when this comes to you an obvious fake (I'd be surprised if it even looks like a C3) he will offer to take it back if you ship it to him and refund $9 - you will have to hold your ground and demand the entire refund - and refuse to ship because it is a crime in the US.

Thanks very much for your informative reply and strategy. Although I am genuinely interested in the Colorfly C3 from all that I have read here on HeadFi, my curiosity about this particular deal got the best of me. I'm less optistic than I was, but still curious to see what actually arrives. The scam you suggested is both devious and clever, but I'm glad to hear it's also illegal. Hard to imagine it's worth the swindler's time and energy for such a paltry amount! If nothing else, it's a lesson in human nature, I guess. Gladly it's not all humans. Everyone I've dealt with here on HeadFi has been great! Thanks again!

You can ask the seller whether the player is authentic. If it is fake..., I heard a few times, sellers voluntarily refunded to avoid further complications (ebay could ban them, they lost moeny and goods). Other non-electronic items seem priced normally, so it is hard to judge, yet. Just ask the seller, at least, you will have some email tracks to back you up later.
