Colorfly C3 Discussion Thread

Yesterday I finally sold my C3. Haha.

I'll now be leaving the C3 family. I got $60 AUD for it on ebay. Not a bad recovery considering its huge journey. Between going to about 10 people in total for demo over 2 years, including a trip from Australia to Hawaii for a few months it's off to south Australia.

Long live C3.

Is the buyer even a head-fier? I felt really sad when I had to sell mine. Most of my sources and cans had to go anyway, but the C3 was so very special.

I don't think so, just a random eBay buyer. I bought a second DX50 unit (have 2) to replace C3 so no harm done. Maybe if Colorfly bring out something new and affordable we can do it all over again. =)

Or something with a better interface and an usable equalizer. But I don't think so, they are kinda weird in regards of firmware

I brought my c3/bh combo out of retirement. My VE Zen earbuds like to be amped, and they sound really good off of the combo, so it's nice to be happily using the combo again. It's scary though that I'm becoming a bit h20-like and starting to pair iems with specific daps and amps. :-)

Synergy is the hidden key between just good and 'excellent' audio quality.

After finding precise synergy you should retain the enchantment as one.

Only ever separating the dap/iem for charging purposes.

True. The best cans can sound very different with different DAPs. Sometimes the cheapo-ones get a better synergy than the most expesive ones.

I still keep mine in rotation for certain headphones and amps pairing just like you guys are mentioning.
Pretty solid little player aside from the obvious.

Off to go look at that new model thread and the progress on that one.

J3eeze the slider slot, I assume it's volume, looks like a lint collector magnet.

Hi H20 .... Can I ask for advice please -
turns out that 32+8gb do run out quickly now that I'm converting all CDs to flac... I bought a 64gb card but had lots of problems (using Windows)... the fat32 somewhat didn't work, Windows wouldn't read but asked to format, later some files/folders copied across, others didn't ... and ultimately C3 said 'no file'  .... I did look up some earlier comments by you .... maybe the cheapo card was faulty, returned it, now thinking of spending $50plus to get a good brand sd card but do want to make sure that it will work this time ....do your comments apply to Windows? Using 64gb in a C3 ?
Cheers!

Sounds like you may have had a faulty or fake card. I know legit 64gb cards work once formatted to FAT32.

Use this program to format the new card first: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm

If you have any problems let us know.

Just joined the C3 camp I guess, with C3 in the mail which should arrive today. The reason is of course @H20Fidelity poisonous posts stating how he sold his iBasso DX50 in favor of Colorfly C3

Also waiting for a 128GB EVO and GR07 bass edition on the mail.

A bit of search on TI PCM1770 reveals that it's indeed a 24-bit DAC chip http://www.ti.com/product/pcm1770.
So do you guys think the unsupported 24-bit FLAC format in C3 is purely a software/firmare limitation?
