It sound is really great.very clean,no hiss, good soundstage, very great instrument separation and imaging
the C3 sound is better than my ipod video in almost all aspect. cleaner, more detail, greater instrument separation, larger soundstage, and way greater imaging.
my ipod video sound is smoother, warmer, and more forward mid/vocal.

The battery is top notch. it already playing music nonstop for 15hours until now, and the battery indicator still has 1 and a half bar (from full bar/full baterry). awesome.
to bad it doesn't have sleep timer for bed time.

Thanks H20 for recommend it to me
Cheers :)

It will bring you much happiness, the unboxing experience is nice too with the little case and cleaning cloth.

I must have owned mine almost 1.5 years now, it's been posted before here though I've sent it on loan to about 7 people one of which was in Hawaii (Hawaii to Australia), some who bought one straight away replacing their iPod touch 5G, others who wanted to set it on fire send me a msg then write a very negative review (only one person, which they did), but my unit simply makes me super happy time and time again. I've been past the stage of comparing it to mid-range Cowons and iPods because I know C3 sounds better overall.

It also pairs very well with almost everything I throw at it (within Its driving power abiity) thats a big plus.

Expect some comparisons soon guys.

I can tell you however, if you think C3 is a "clean" sounding unit it may of met Its match on that front.

Going from a small screen to no screen. Or Batman versus old Star Trek.

It's designed with keeping circuitry completely clean for simplicity and better quality sound. For this reason there's no UI, no screen, nothing. To transfer files you must remove the card, as it doesn't connect to PC.

Lots of information in the Alien thread atm including one review placing Aliens sound above an AK120.

All I can tell you is it sounds real good. ;)

H20, do you have any idea how much do you complicate things for me?

First the C3, then the Kogan and now this. I sure hope this player is still available when I finally start to earn real money again. We are here for the sound anyway, right?

For me, it's about chasing that next level of sound, especially within budget, sometimes you move forward, go back, side step etc.

Most importantly find something you're happy with then try to avoid further purchases much as possible. (in theory)

Its this damn place, the entire site / community always edging onwards to achieve more, and the curiosity surrounding trying new products.

Make sure you research first! For example, only FLAC / WAV support. But she's pretty flash device!

I think I'll pass on the Alien... $180US for a device with no screen, FLAC/WAV and only supports a 32GB card.
That train is just going to fly on by this station.

This is where I see the Shozy Alien hitting at with its screenless hifi player. It may seem like a shuffle type player, and one may not expect a big deal out of it. But me and some other audiophile friends swear by how it paces the AK120 in the sound quality department. Yes, THE AK120

Still not tempted?

This place is like crack for drugaddicts. You know you can't make yur own (at least some of us can't) and you try to score something cheaper and maybe stay with it. But then someone shows you a different flavor, unatainable anywhere else and, no matter if you have money or not, you try to score some of that. And then you realize you are hooked. You can try and be clean for a while, but eventually it will get you.

I think what it is...

You find a product to become interested in, Head-fi is the ideal place to research that product, then once you begin reading that's when curiosity starts to take over. Before you know it you're reading several mixed opinions about bass, mids, treble, soundstage etc but never a concrete conclusion about the product in question. After reading several threads you become very confused and bewildered before giving in simply buying the product to find out for yourself.

Just happened to me with a pair HD595.

Anyway look out for some C3 / Alien impressions.
