Generally, most people have 16bit/44.1 flacs but the c3 can't go higher than 48khz and also only wav files can be in 24bit. Also, some files that have higher than 3500 kbps bit rate can give a play error message.

Some info I was able to find is bitrate 2994 Kbps, sample rate 96000 he, bits per sample 24. I am using foobar2000

That's the problem. You have to convert these to either 16bit/48khz flac or 24bit/48khz wav files. The C3 can't play anything with sample rate higher than 48khz, so 96 is a no go and also it can play 24bit audio only if the files are in Wave format. That bit rate should be fine.

My C3 has yet again been sent to another member for a loan period/demo (I think we're up to about 6 members now since ownership) His first impressions were only of the build quality and screen worthinesses but he seems pleased. Every time I do this  I feel I"m testing the merits of Australia postal system, like pushing the boundary until that one time something goes wrong And each time it returns I rediscover it again. Like I've owned C3 six times!!

I sold mine today. Its a bummer, but I needed the money with my divorce and all tha. Got some 80 dollars because it was in good shape. I really need to get back on my feet, because if this situation continues I am going to end with a cheapo Chinese player and its included earphones instead of barely decent stuff. Oh, well :frowning2:

Sorry to hear mate, focus on what's important, audio second. There'll always be another C3 but not another day something needs to be corrected.

Good luck with getting your life back in order Onix, there is nothing harder on a person than relationship issues.

I hear that the C3 will only display files in the order they are transferred to the player. If I have all my music stored on the SD card will it all show in order when put into the player. I don't normally load music onto the player, wondered if this would sort the order problem.

No it will show the order they were put onto the uSD card as well. I always ran a directory sort program on my uSD cards and the C3 itself for an alphabetical listing after loading files.

What's the best program to use?

I use DriveSort http://www.anerty.net/dl/DriveSort_en.zip It takes seconds to fire it up and get everything in alphabetical order - http://www.head-fi.org/t/637417/colorfly-c3-appreciation-and-discussion-thread/1650#post_9679987 For instance And if the songs in an album aren't in numerical order I use Fat Sorter but that is if the files already have numbers in the beginning of the file name, otherwise you'll have to manually add numbers to the file names if you want them to be in a certain order.

All my files have numbers. I haven't got one yet but am really interested. Will take this on board if I get one, thanks for your advice.

Well, you'll mainly have to use DriveSort to sort out your folder names in alphabetical order, especially after adding new music to the sd card. Otherwise, numbered files usually are transferred to the card in order but occasionally things get messed up and the might be saved in different order and in these very rare occasions you might have to use alphanumeric FatSort, which takes quite longer than drivesort as it pretty much moves the files from the folder and copies them back in numerical order.
