Colorfly C200

Great review twister6 , I've waited for good review of c200. I don't know if I missed it but does C200 have resume function when powered off and on again? I'm still using good old colorfly C3 and I'm bearing it quite well despite its lack of features because sound is so good. I recently saw C200's price has come down, tempting indeed, but one feature I'd like to be covered before I would purchase it. Gappless playback with flac and cue, my C3 doesn't support flac with cues as it somehow screws up tracks and times won't match at all. Wav however work's but I definitely prefer flac because I don't hear difference between them and file size matters. But yea, since I'm happy with C3, I believe C200 would be good too.

I have to double check, rearranging/organizing stuff in my basement so a lot of my gear is in the boxes now (might take a little while to get to it).  But I could swear that it was resuming from the song I played before power down.  C200 does need fw work, just like any other dap :)  Nothing is perfect.  Another really good one I just had a chance to test (engineering sample ony) is Aune M1s.  Very minimalistic GUI/setup, but great sound from balanced output.

twister, what do you think of the C200 versus the C4 in term of vocal restitution? I've heard so much about how great and how unique the vocals of the C4 were, how does the C200 stands against its older brother?

Also thanks for your feedback ;)

Sorry, never had a chance to hear C4.

Yup. Gotta find out about that. I need a dap to have auto-shutoff and auto-resume at the same place (in the same track - not auto-resume at the beginning of the same track).

I just got a C200. I'm trying to update the firmware. But on the 'upgrade' it keeps telling me there is no upgrade file.

I'm using a Mac. I downloaded 20160714_C20016_update.zip and unzipped it. Copied the bin file to the TF card. Is it because I unzip it in OSX? I have already sent a message to colorably but have no respond yet. Any help would be appreciated.

The DAC function is kind of working. But there is a constant click out of the Mac using A+ or Amarra. So it's not really listenable yet. At least that's the case with my unit's firmware.

Would be good to be able to try the new firmware...

Have you copied the *.bin file in to the root directory? If its inside another folder, player wont be able to find that file.

Yep.  The card has nothing else on it. The card itself works perfectly when I put music files on it. I formatted it and then put the bin file on to it.

Ok. Only other thing I can think of is that bin file might have got corrupted for some reason while copying from your mac into the SD card. Compare the size of the *.bin file in you computer and the one in the SD card.
