Looking to spend around $250 to the upper 200's for a nice "beginner" setup. I've narrowed it down to either dt 770 pro 80 ohms or maybe the Custom One Pros. I'm still stuck though in regards to amp+dac, between the fiio e10 and the o07k. Anyone willing to help me out of a jam? If you've got a better idea for a setup then these two, please speak up, i'm open to suggestions.

What source are you using? PC or Mac, desktop or laptop? mp3 player?
Is this for music? movies? gaming?

The problem is that it's all kind of mushed in together. I could use it only at my mac laptop and not when walking around, on trips etc.

could get the 598's because they're slightly cheaper on amazon, and i'm worried that the bass of the dt 770 (80) is too much, so I could just use my amp/dac to bass boost the 598's and get the best of both worlds.

OR I could get the 250 ohm dt 770's with slightly less bass and make them only usable with an amp. Plus they're cheaper so it saves me enough money to get the fiio e07k, so I can be mobile with them.

BUT I don't know if I'm gonna get noise driving a 250 ohm headphone out of that amp/dac. It's all a little too complex.

ARGHH

But music for the most part, a little gaming, although I really don't mind not being open for gaming, that's no issue. Electronic music, rock, some rap, all that hipster ****.

I prefer the dt770 to the COP but here is a thread comparing the dt770 to the COP: http://www.head-fi.org/t/633349/beyerdynamic-dt-770-80-vs-custom-one-pros-quick-comparison

Honestly I would see if you can demo the dt 770 80 ohm version. In fact, DEMO whatever you think about getting if possible. There are people on the extreme sides talking about the bass on the dt 770. So try it and see if you like it. Then if it's too bassy you can go for the 250 ohm version.

Possible set ups?

Dt 770 80 ohms with E07k

DT 770 250 ohms with E10
