On week 14 of 14 wait for my order of the modhouse argon mk3 to begin fulfillment. Getting the itch to cancel it and grab something else.

Especially with the release of the new Focal Azurys, which have been getting great reviews, and would offer a <$1k opportunity to hear the Focal house sound for the first time.

Any thoughts? I currently have the DT 770 Pro X which can be a general headphone for drumset, playstation, etc. Looking to grab something that excels in the sound quality (dynamics, clarity) department.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Having heard the Argon and two Focals , but not the Azury's.. I'd say that the Argon's are a great all rounder.

Focal's sound is very enjoyable, haven't heard any other headphone so far that has their slam.

Here's the Focal's I tried;

Clear MG - Focal Slam! Abit shouty in some genres
Radiance - Owned this beauty, loved it for music, but it sounded metallic in games. I'm a desktop user, so I'm very picky when it comes to game sounds.

Above all else, I consider comfort to be the most important thing in headphones and that's where the Argon trumps any Focal. Loving Focals, I can never own them, since the earpads are too small for my ears and I can't stick anything touching my ear :smile:

If you've waited 14 weeks for the Argon's, I'd say stick with em. You can always buy the Azury's and return them :)

Awesome, thanks for the reply.

Agreed that comfort is king, because at this stage phones probably can't be called "bad". I had the Drop DCA Aeon Closed X for a while; comfiest phone I've ever used but couldn't get past their anemic bass.

My concern with the Argons is that they are relatively old tech, and the online reviews of them are also pretty old. Good to hear you think they still contend.

Thanks again.
