Yes, you can use the 780s with your D2, and they sound great together.
Im loving the 780s right now, but they can be a bit harsh, and a bit bass heavy at times (if im being picky). I've heard the 680s are less extended on the bass and treble so maybe this would be a better choice.
Well, I went ahead and bought the HFI-780s. I decided if they aren't my cup of tea, I will just sell them here and buy the Denons and try them instead. Thanks for the help guys!
hfi 780 is good if u want some bass in you music. however they require a long burn in time, 500 hrs i beleive. im not that patient though. out of the box the d2000 is a class or two higher than the 780s. even tattou(the dude who sold me the 780s and d2000) said that this is also the case during his ownership of the cans.
Yeah, but I have read that the D2000s are a bit slow. When listening to stuff like Dragonforce, slow is very bad, cause the drivers just fall behind and the music loses it's enjoyability. I got a pretty good deal on the HFI-780s, so like I said, I will sell 'em and get the Denons if necessary.
My HFI-780s came in this morning and I must say so far I am pretty impressed. Even though they have had zero burn-in time, the are sounding really good already. The bass could be a bit tighter, but I am sure that will happen with time. And soundstage....wow. It doesn't match my AD700s soundstage, but it was a heck of a lot more than I was expecting from a closed phone. Thanks to all of you who contributed! Now just to burn these in for ~200 hours or so to really get a feel for their final sound.
