hello to everyone
smily_headphones1.gif

ive got question - i use iriver clix2 with head direct re2 but ive been thinking about changing re2 to phonak audeo pfe.

i listen to the music on the 'rock' EQ setting most of the time (or custom EQ) or sometimes on 'classic' - rock and custom eq for rock, indie rock etc. genres (most often) and classic for classical music (chopin).
for electronic kind of music i use 'ubass' setting - sadly clix2+re2 isn't good idea for someone who listen to this genre all the time.

im looking in audeo for more bass and even better precision, scene and seperation of the instrumens (and better middles and highs in general) than in re2.

so - do you think that audeo will fulfill my expectations? has it got more bass and equally (or better i hope) middles and trebles, separation and scene than re2? i like clix2+re2 set kind of sound but im looking for something in this type but just better.

thanks in advance for help

Yes, PFE will work just fine as a big step up from RE2.

I still use CLIX2 sometime as part of my burn-in rig, but you do want to consider upgrading it to something better in the long run. It is a half decent source but these days you can get much better sounding DAP with less money, though probably not quite as cool looking.

If you are worried about bass you may want to try Audeo Perfect Bass. They are same transducers and body as PFE but come with more bassy green filters and less accessories which makes PBEs $50 cheaper. You can always turn them into PFEs buy buying from Audeo World site black or grey filters that come standard with PFEs. Still will be cheaper.

ill probably buy pfe012 because there is good promotion in one polish shop - you'll get one pair of grey and one pair of black filter free if you buy pfe012

probably someday i'll consider new dap but currently im happy with clix2 - it's providing great usefulness for me while still offering decent SQ. and it's still true iriver - i've got sentiment for this brand despite the fact that thesedays they sold their soul for few bucks more

@ClieOS
is there chance that you could compare sound on clix2+re2 and clix2+audeo? i would be very grateful

Tell me about it. I used to be a moderator on the biggest English iriver forum and a guess advisor on the biggest Chinese iriver forum. It is disappointing to see a good company falls.

The first thing you will notice on PFE Perfect Bass is that it is not quite as warm as RE2, but require more volume to get the same loudness. The immediate improvement will be on sparkle, detail and resolution, and of course a more textured bass. Once you switched to either grey or black filter, the overall resolution will probably blow you away. That's a pretty big jump in SQ IMO.

as i read reviews of new iriver like Exxx series or spinn everyone says that their sound quality isn't anywhere good as the irivers of the old. and i.e. i got Lplayer for sometime and i changed it for older clix2 as it has better SQ and few other advantages and is overall much better player.
if only iriver would make once again players with h1xx, h3xx, ifp or e10 sound quality....

oh, so you think that audeo even with green bass filters aren't so warm as re2? i thought that i'll obtain more bass in audeo in comparision to re2 (which lacks bass a little bit even imo). actually i hope that audeo even with grey or black filters will has got more bass than re2.
and btw. i thought that re2 and audeo are both 32ohms? so despite this fact, audeo are still quieter iems that re2 (sorry if i asked stupid question

i dont have big knowledge about construction of iems ;])?

Perhaps warm is not the right word, more like RE2 is thick and mush on the bass which gives the impression of warm, while Perfect Bass is much more resolving on bass and thus not quite as thick and mushy.
