It seems you are getting hung up on the DTS encoded nature of these files so just think about HDCD encoded files. Are these PCM files in your mind? Should you be able to get exactly the same bits that are on the disc out on a digital output so you can connect a DAC that decodes the embedded HDCD signature? This case is not any different from the DTS example and that is equally not possible. The key is that you never get to listen to what is really on your CDs.
DVDs with Dobly and DTS sound tracks are a completely different matter and you should not confuse these two cases.
