I loved the comparison, thanks. However, was disappointed at the end to hear you used the 3.5mm port of the iFi. Even iFi would say that it's inferior in SQ to the balanced port. That's just how these balanced systems function. They're built for balanced and throw on 3.5mm for compability. So you're not comparing 100% of what the Gryphon can do versus 100% of the Mojo 2. As a Chord fan, I'd still like to believe the Mojo wins, but IMO, not using the balanced port of the Gryphon technically nullifies the comparison.

The test was a good one.
If I was to improve on the test, I would implement the following:
- I would use an A/B switch, rather than two headphones. Recently, at CanJam , at Hifiman stand, they had two HE1000's that sounded slightly different to each other!
- I would have, at times, switched the DACs to see if the same listener could reliably tell them apart.
As it was done, it boils down to each listener's preference, not which one was better. I may like a warmer sound, but Jim might prefer a brighter sound . That, is just preference, but by switching DACs, it would reveal, if I could reliably tell them apart as well.
It still would be based on preference, but not just in my head!
I'm not saying Balanced itself is better than SE. Actually, I'm in the camp that it is not. What I'm saying that if the system is made to be Balanced, that is true way to use it.

Agreed, not a fair comparison in the end. Sound quality vise it's very difficult pick a winner. I had both and ended up with Mojo 2 because I EQ and Mojo 2 is clearly superior in sound tuning.
Gryphon wins on features though.
If you plan on using either as a desktop solution too then Mojo 2 is hands down better option.
