What is “peppy" I’ve never heard of that before.

You know, he says "My Mojo's USB died, I couldn't use it no more ...", well on one of my Mojos, the USB input died. The optical still worked, though.
I sent it back to Chord, for £90 (two years ago), the replaced the input chip, got it working, installed a new original battery and sent it back! Took a week.

Depending on where he is from will probably alter the meaning. In my part of the world, in the antipodes, peppy would usually mean powerful.

However, it would usually be in relative terms in respect of the size of whatever it might be that you are referring to.

You would not say a 5.0 litre V8 car was peppy but you might say, for example, a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder was peppy if it was surprisingly powerful for its size.

I would not usually think of it being used in respect of audio equipment but if so I would think it would be used in the same way, that is the Mojo 2 might be considered peppy since it is powerful for its size.

At least that is the case in my part of the world, we would not usually refer to it in the context of the definition Rob indicated. That is we would not typically refer to a person being peppy.
Exaaactly! Nailed it. 😃 I'm a native Spanish speaker and "peppy" in Spanish is peposo. "Pep" is pepa.

Having read (and heard) the word "peppy" throughout the years in so many car reviews in English where the reviewers are surprised with engines that are powerful for their size, I adopted that relatable word.

Me too:

peppy
adjectiveinformal•North American
adjective: peppy; comparative adjective: peppier; superlative adjective: peppiest

lively and high-spirited.

So Mojo 2 can certainly sound peppy; but it can also be rich, warm, soft and leisurely - it just depends upon your music, headphones and your Mojo 2 EQ settings.
Great! I appreciate the reply, Rob. I've been binging all your videos and interviews since ordering the Mojo 2 yesterday, and I find your obsession with perfection fascinating. The stuff about testing with a -301 dB signal was crazy to me, ha-ha. 😀

You will enjoy it, most likely with all the headphones you have listed. I would encourage you to get the perforated pads for the Aeon Closed, which will provide the same sound signature as the Aeon Noire. It is just that much less veiled by reducing the mid bass slightly. Highly recommended with Mojo2.
Alright! Thanks for the reply and the perforated pad tip. I will certainly try it!

It's a great DAC from a company with a strong reputation for making quality audio electronics.
It's relatively affordable, and very versatile: I have used it for desktop listening and on the go, in a variety of different systems and with several headphones / IEMs. Some have used it in two-channel systems and even to power speakers.
Finally, it's got a really well implemented EQ - kudos to Chord for premiering this in their entry level product.

Main con for me is that the best source for Mojo2, Poly, costs pretty much the same therefore doubling the price of the system which takes it outside of the value bracket for me, especially for an on-the-go solution.
Thanks for your input! 😀

Did you mean the USB Bridge Amtel chip? I thought that it was the problem of the USB socket.

On a quest to get the Mojo 2 to work via bluetooth with LDAC.

Found the perfect solution (for me), that is to connect it via usb c to an Hidizs ap80 pro (in receiver mode).

I already had an ap80 lying around with broken analog outputs, so that was a no brainer, plus sd card and media playback support as a nice extra.

Really surprised that it connects to the Mojo 2 as an external soundcard. I have a Fiio M5 and that one doesn't work in the same way, and so I thought that only smartet (like android) devices were capable of that.

Indeed, the micro USB input on my 2Go failed and I was unable to use it. Chord have had lots of issues with lead free solder. It was fixed quickly though when I returned it so no problem

I just bought one of these to use with my iPad using USB-C. Will I be ok using the USB-C cable supplied with my iPad or is it like with the iPhone where you need a specialised cable?

Should be here tomorrow.

I'll probably get decimated by the 1's and 0's crowd but while the iPad USB C charger works, I got tired of the sound. I guess it's OK but if you're wondering if there is a better sound.....try something - better suited for sound - properly shielded, etc. - and see for yourself.

After all, the iPad charging cable was designed for that purpose.

Thanks for the reply.

I just realised that one of my external SSD drives came with a short thunderbolt 4 cable. Would that be any more suitable or will I need a certain type of cable?

If it works it's worth a try. That it's short and made for quick data transfer may be a better choice, compare it with the Apple cable if you're interested in doing so, see which you like more.

The included iPad cable will work. I'd suggest a thunderbolt cable. It's better shielded and way overkill for data transmission. I've had zero white noise issues with that cable. I've used the apple and amazon basics versions.
