Question
I wonder if my batteries are getting weak.
After 3 hours or so, I get to yellow.
Using ISB feeding an inefficient Hifiman Edition XS, mostly at blue/purple Vol .
Is that OK, or should I be getting more.

I'm using Quad ERA-1 which are similar impedance and sensitivity but I listen around yellow / green volume and I see 3 or 4 hours max to yellow battery condition. This is with a couple of week old Hugo 2, so I think you still have good batteries.

But I wouldn't power it via the DC out terminal, as turning the unit on can be set to greater than 5v. That would damage Hugo 2 protection diodes. I guess you could power it up, check that the OP was 5v then plug Hugo 2 in. But then you have to hope that the unit won't decide to increase the voltage - a glitch on the switch could cause that. The USB OP's (OUT1 and OUT2) on the other hand will be permanently set to 5v so always will be safe.

Thanks to Rob Watts for the above advice about not connecting the Hugo 2 directly to a powerbank using the DC out.

Attached is a picture of my updated setup now with a DXP-1A5S unit between the powerbank and Hugo2. The DXP-1A5S has a fixed output of 5v.

My Krisdonia powerbank has output voltage set to 8.4v

My Power bank has USB2.0 with output voltage 5V and current 2A which is fixed and no switch to adjust it.
Question is do I still need DXP-1A5S Regulation Power Supply?

As output is fixed and their cannot be any glitch on switch, mabe be with this configuration Power supply is not requried.

Any Hugo 2 users paired it with Pass Labs HPA-1?

I recently bought the Hugo2 again and in some respects prefer the tonality to my TT2....

Nice to see a fellow dxpwr user.

1.5a version does get more than toasty hot, right?

I have 3 dxpwr 3a daisy chained and it's amazingly open on desktop mode. Add sorbothanes on all the units and you'll get super blacks and deeper bass.

Just thought I'd share a picture of my Hugo2 connected up to the powerbank that I just got as there were some posts recently about using powerbanks with the Hugo 2.

The powerbank is Krisdonia Laptop Power Bank 25000mAh. I have the powerbank connected to the mains at the moment to get the Hugo 2 into desktop mode.

The dc cable from powerbank to Hugo 2 is from ghentaudio (0.3m). I also have a DXP-1A5S on order which will go in between powerbank and the Hugo 2.

Hi, Andy, Can I ask you have to turn on and plug Power cable on your Krisdonia 24/7 to keep your hugo 2 in desktop mode right?. Does it become overheat or cause any problems?

Hi -- my family has moved to a small home while we remodel our house and I'm finding a need to scale down my system even more than anticipated. I've been researching the Hugo 2 + 2GO to pair with my Meze Elite headphones for a few reasons:
  • A portable solution to listen in different spots in the house
  • It's a Roon endpoint
  • Includes Airplay
  • Includes ethernet
  • From what I've read, the Hugo 2 plays well with the Elites

I've been reading about the limitations of the WiFi standard of the 2GO, but I'd love to better understand what that means pragmatically speaking -- is it buggy to connect to WiFi? Does it drop out? I use an Orbi satellite WiFi system.

Thanks!

I keep the power bank connected to the mains when not listening to music. Then I disconnect the power bank from the mains to listen to music. This keeps the Hugo 2 in desktop mode. I haven't had any issues with overheating.
