IMHO poor combo. Mojo is powerful enough solo. It use to drive my 600 ohm beyers easily.

IMHO poor combo. Mojo is powerful enough solo. It use to drive my 600 ohm beyers easily.

i have to set my volume way up high for 650 if mojo alone

650 sounds very veiled with mojo itself

mojo to atom:

much more resolving, better stage and airiness, veil is gone

however, i think i want more detail going forward..

Degraded signal by third party headphone amp. No analogue noise shaping like h2.

Congratulations on the pup. Which breed?

Cheers MK

It’s a Chihuahua, as they are the one of the most intelligent and longest living of all dog breeds, they can live upto 20 years.

I had to get a Chi, as my last dog Boobs was a Chi and he passed in november.

My new one is called Bobo.

Qutest has the same chip as Hugo 2?

Yes, but I have a Hugo 2 for sale *( and it’s better than qutest, battery power means no mains interference and if you leave it connected to the mains, you basically have a qutest and the batteries don’t get used, thats desktop mode ) * and it’s in mint condition with the premium van nuys leather case and 2 worldwide power supplies.

Plus, 2go addon module is gunna be released this year, so this could be an excellent purchase.

If interested pm me.

I forgot, it comes with a 2 year Chord warranty, it’s transferable to the new owner. Thats Chords policy.

Hugo 2 on it own may very well be superior to Quest and Atom, but let's not completely disregard the combo. It's quite a bit cheaper than a Hugo 2 on its own and the Atom measures impeccably. I personally was considering this combination over Hugo 2 but decided against it primarily because Atom isn't readily available in the UK (least it wasn't at the time).

I don't believe that the Atom will "destroy" the Qutest. Use good quality USB and RCA cables, though.

My dog was called Riko. I was gonna call him Rex but that sounded too much like Rexo oxo so Riko it was. As a single child he really was a brother to me so responsive and in touch. I still feel the loss now.

hey all,

may i find out if there is an alternative to the Hugo 2 that is on par in terms of SQ and resolution but cheaper?

i was looking at Qutest but it's dac only which is still okay as i have the JDS Atom

alternative suggestions would be awesome!

ps. priority still Hugo 2 lol

Either save your pennies and buy a new Hugo 2 or save less pennies and buy a used Hugo 2. You won't find a "combo" that costs less and sounds like this DAC/amp, pretty simple.

The atom is not suitable when considered as an amp for chord dacs (i'm sure it has its market segment). A 99$ budget amp with a state of the art world class 1400$ qutest dac?? I'm not trying to initiate a heated debate. Everyone is free to post their opinion.
