I am using a Topping D10s- works great with my DAVE+Mscaler (optical link) with a Signature Rendu SRSE Deluxe in the chain too.

On another note, I see those comparing toslink to coaxial using the Audiowise gear. I cannot fathom wanting more clarity the MDave provides. I spend more time smoothing out the sound downstream to counteract the analytical sound of the MDave. Now, with this said, I thought of purchasing these used Audiowise FC/LP filters. Worth it?
It's not about wanting more clarity, it's about removing distortion from RFI/EMI and effective ways to achieve that aim. Chord dacs are not susceptible to jitter (according to Rob Watts) so optical doesn't have some of the issues that may be reported on other dacs. He's always suggested optical should be the cleaner approach - but that the streamer if connected to power could introduce noise through the common power connection. His recommendations were to use optical, ideally on a battery to avoid common ground loop issues. The Audiowise devices were alternative approaches to solving the RFI/EMI issues but with the added benefit of allowing > 24/192 - if that matters.

Rob has always been consistent that USB can sound potentially just as good but highly depends on the device connected to the dac.

Thank you for the explanation.

What is a Streamer that has Toslink out and can be powered by a battery other than an old laptop with Toslink out? I am using a Zen Stream on Wi-Fi and battery, but it only has USB and Coax out. Let me know.

Nuts....I'll use my laptop.

Fact is I do have a great streamer, but only has usb and network out. Cost me a $1000 in Japan. Works great. It's a first generation Melco.

Oh I’m sure it’s sweeeet, gorgeous, articulation of musical eargasm. But I’m tapped out as well, just pleased as punch with the oladra upgrade I got on my dx3. I’ll ride this into the sunset I hope. Otherwise it will be selling some stocks, cause once you’ve heard what better music server companies are producing, it’s darn hard to ignore. But ignorance is bliss and value is in the eye of the beholder.

I hear ya. My Melco N1 is now 12k retail. Crazy I bought it for 1k when it first came out in Japan. Is this a 12k streamer, uh don't know. Love to hear my N1 compared to the new N1 and see if it is 12x better.

If needed to sale either the Dave or Mscaler, which one would you sale.

I can imagine most would say keep the Dave, but the Mscaler is so versatile. What say you?

Sell MScaler unless you specifically plan on going to a TT2. Main reason is - you can’t do anything by with m scaler by itself..
