The current fw is 1.6.1. Not sure why it's saying no update available. Have you tried doing a factory reset?

Yes, already done. Seems stuck on 1.5.6 even after a factory reset…

I can only think of 2 possible avenues. Go to a different location and use their WiFi to see if that makes a difference. Or contact Chord Support, they may have a way to force the update down to your IP.

Connect to your phones hotspot and see if it reports the update. Some ISP's and some firewalls will block downloads mistaking it for a torrent site
Thanks for the suggestion, didn’t work either.
Will contact support

Make one last attempt, if you haven't already done so, try connecting it with an ethernet cable and without using the app, use the menu via the side button and select the firmware update.

Chord's update servers are completely broken at the moment, I'm sure they will fix it eventually.

The update to "improve" things for customers (secret phrase for save Chord money) has caused owners even more stress. It would be nice if they could publish an update on progress with fixing the server though.

Even if the firmware upgrade becomes avaiable again, have fun trying to install it. After completing the entire upgrade progress, it still says 1.6.0.

I'm waiting for 1.6.2 for this reason as I got better things to do then to deal with Chord their spagetti code.

The Poly has the same firmware upgrade problems.

if the spaghetti code (as you call it) was made in Italy, it would be the best code in the world

From Chord:

There are some reported issues with the update server which we are working to resolve at the moment. You'll hopefully receive a notification when an alteration has been made (via GoFigure)

Anyone got an idea how to force a firmware update to go through? Getting device disconnected in GoFigure every single time

The only thing I can tell you is that I connected the ethernet cable and tried everything: several times I did the factory reset through the menu from the side button, reinstalled the Gofigure app and, again with the side button, from the menu, I I did the software update.....at a certain point it appeared on the app that I had managed to get version 1.6.1. frankly I don't know what I did so that it updated.....
