Hey guys,

I am going to buy a new CDP for my SR-009 and SRM-727 headphone system.
Currently deciding between the Esoteric X-01D2 and K-03, I have no intention of adding a master clock yet.
Considering the CP, sonority and playability (usb dac etc.), which one would you guys prefer?

I am a fan of the Esoteric sound because of its pitch-black background, rich sound-space and its neutrality.
Thus I probably will not be looking at other sources yet... I live in Japan so these CDPs will be easy to buy for me.

I hope these two CDPs won't be creating a hassel for my SR-009 system.
The CDP I am currently using is the Denon 2010AE. Also a SACD player, I feel that it doesn't live up to the great sound quality of the SR-009 and is dragging the performance of my system and possibility of the SR-009 back.

Thx for your opinions!

I haven't heard either the X-01D2 or K-03, but if it was me I'd go for the K-03 simply because it's got DAC.
Also seeing how IMO the SR-009 reproducers whatever the sources sound is, the K-03 should be more than enough.
If the K-03 is anything like my source, it'll improve any headphone / amp.

P.S. My source is SACD / DAC and I now mostly use DAC, in fact I haven't played a CD for over two weeks.

Whereabouts in Japan are you?

I'd second the K-03 suggestion for having the DAC.

I'm a student of Waseda University in Tokyo.
