Anyways, I thought these were very comfortable. If the ear pieces were just a little bit bigger, my ears would completely go inside them. Right now, either the top part or the bottom part of my ears gets pushed inwards by the headphone. It feels perfectly fine until I take them off my head. After that, I get extreme soreness for about 5 minutes after I remove them and then fine after that. Outside of that, I really have no complains. I never tried out any better headphones than these in the past so my opinion is kind of limited TBH. I really am willing to get something new this time though and I would not mind..

Right now I am thinking of getting the AD700. Sound-wise, how would the AD700 compare to the D1000? I know the A700 is closed (Which would be a plus for me) but AD700 supposedly sounds much better and is cheaper. At this point, I would rather save $30 and get the AD700.

The D1001 and D1000 are essentially the same.. as far as I know.

The AD700 sounds at least as good as the D1001. I am breaking my AD700's in right now.. and the AD700 is definitely better than the D1001... how much better.. I am not sure yet.

I think I am gonna recommend you get the AD700. From the sounds of it, you'll find them very comfortable. They are bigger than the D1001 and I think they are even more comfortable.

However, If you are going for sound quality only... you'd probably be happy with the RX700 though.

I've used the RX700 briefly and I can say it's definitely worth the extra money (to me at least) for the better comfort.

I got the ad700's because I already had a pair of decent closed cans. I decided to get something I could enjoy at home. I'm don't know what the RX700 sounds like but I think the decision might come down to some basic questions:

How important is price?
Closed vs open?
Bass vs med-high detail?

Also, comfort is a big question too. Circumaural is usually the most comfortable for long periods; supraaural(like Grado SR-60) would not be very comfortable for extensive periods. For me, the range has to be under $100, prefer closed circumaural with at least some bass. A lot of songs I listen to is mostly bass and med; not much high.

I think I am going to probably get the RX700 or RX900 at this point after reading the entire 45 pages of the thread on it. The only problem is that RX700 is sold-out in every place that I checked so far. I guess I will just buy a RX900 for $20 more. I am not going to wait a few weeks just to order a headphone when and if it eventually comes into stock.

If it doesn't work out for your specific needs, could always just spend the 32$ on the RX700 whenever they're in stock

Don't buy the RX900. Wait for the 700. Its a better headphone. It won't be a few weeks. They go in and out of stock every few days.

Where do you suggest I shop for these? Buy.com, Amazon.com... elsewhere? Apparently Buy.com keeps these in stock and at the lowest price most often... according to that one thread that is like 45 pages long.

Anyone know of any other place that sell RX700 or RX900? The RX900 was in stock when I first looked at Amazon and this other website(Keenzo or something), but then it was soldout the next day. Should I just order the AD700? I can get it for $75 shipped from Amazon...

I also got a pm on another forums from a guy who is selling refurbished Beyerdynamic DT770 and Beyerdynamic DT880 for $100. I just dunno whether to trust the person or not. That seems like a too good to be true kind of price. If the person has decent references, would it be worth buying one of those 2 headphones without having any warranty? Damn, I am really unsure currently. Since I am not an audiophile, anyone think I would be able to notice the difference between an AD700 and DT770 or DT880? $25 extra.. hmm

I will throw some confusion in here and say I genuinely like the RX900 more than the RX700 due to it having a fuller sound, larger soundstage, better sound positioning (gaming-wise), and better earcups. There's a slight difference in weight between the RX900 and the RX700 (RX900 being a little bit heavier). IMO the price difference is justified but in terms of headphones, it almost always comes down to preference. The RX700 is a respectable headphone but the RX900 just has a better concert hall feel to it and that makes it more attractive for me.
